After EMC 10 opens and I try to either "Rip a CD" or use "Audio Converter" those programs open and ask me to add files.  When I insert a CD to add the files, the programs just freeze up.  I can't even close them from the task manager.

I did a clean uninstall including removing all the Roxio and Sonic folders on my computer, as suggested elsewhere in this forum, downloaded the new Roxio_Central36.exe (RoxioEasyMediaCreator10.1_FA80AA50R13) from Roxio's web site, reinstalled it, then downloaded the content (RoxioEMC10ContentCD_3833BA50SQA) and reinstalled that.  I still have the same problem.

I have a Dell Dimension 521 with Windows Vista SP1 operating system and AMD Athlon 64 X 2 dual Core Processor 3800+.  I have close to 70 GBs of free (unused) disc storage space.

I am running The Verizon Internet Security Suite (recently installed) which I had turned off when installing the new EMC 10 software.  I've had the same problem when I was previously running Norton Online Internet Security.  I've actually reinstalled EMC 10 three or four times now.

Any help would be most appreciated.

(Also, somehow I inadvertantly put a bad user name in my profile and would like to change it from collage_top.png to ADavisClan.  Anyone know how I can do that?)

I'm not convinced that that is a software problem.

What does windows explorer say about the disc?  Can you play it using WMP or other music player?  Where did you get the disc?  I assume that this is the only disc your tried/had problems with.

What CD reader do you have?  What audio card/chip?  Have you gone to the Dell site to see if there was a firmware update for the CD reader and/or drivers for your sound device?  I think this is the page for your computer.
