I doubt anyone could give you an answer based on that scanty amount of info…

How about walking through it from when you click Start?

Hello Jim i am embarrassed to say that had i had the Roxio USB plugged into the PC i never would have gotten that error.LOL.
I do have another question for you though. My turntable has no power so i guess i need to use an amp between the turntable and the PC to boost the signal?I have an older Ampifier withn a preamp in it.Can i run the roxio usb cable to the preamp and control the input signal with the Roxio application? I don't want to fry anything not sure how to set this up for digitizing my LPS ....Thanks

Use a pre-amp and plug that into the Line In socket - NOT the microphone wink.gif

Could you explain that, starting with software name and version #. A step by step in detail what and how you did this, what USB device drivers are you using?

Hello I am using Roxio creative suite 2009 special addition with windows Vista Home Premium.I have my turntable hooked into my receiver and  a 1/4 inch stereo jack running out of the headphone jack of the receiver. That stereo jack is split into a right and left channel cord.I then plugged the two 1/4 jacks into my tascam US-122 USB mixing board right and left channels. The Tascam has its own soundcard and the nRoxio program recognised it.One issue i have is that the input signal is controlled by the volume control of my receiver and not the input control of Roxio. It is working well this way and the rec ordings sound good.I am still messing around as i,m still not sure it is recording in stereo. But at least i'm recording now.I had to do all of this because the soundcard in my Laptop doesn't have a line in and will not work with the Roxio USB cord for some reason.I am not the only person having issues with the new souncards not allowing recording. If you want more info let me know.

Unfortunately, microphone sockets are mono only - that's just the way things are.

I believe (haven't seen one myself) that there are USB and PCMCIA sound cards available that would have the line in facility

Thanks, the point of all the questions was what Jim Hardin posted in post # 6. " The Roxio USB Device cannot capture Audio!"

The way it sounded you were doing the audio capture with the Roxio USB device..

It's not the "new soundcards" not having things. It's Vista and the way it's been redone to control sound.
Many, many cards that work just fine in XP don't work in Vista.
It's a matter of a change in sound architecture in Vista and the drivers for the sound cards.

Roxio can only use inputs that are presented to it by the OS.If Vista is not seeing those then Roxio won't either.

Yes that is the impression i am getting since Vista.I have been trying to get drivers for my soundcard and motherboard from the original suppliers but it seems Microsoft has them hog tied.Need someone to write something to enable a line in on my soundcard.I am new to windows as i have only had macs so its a learning curve for sure.
