Then you need to update it to 9.1 – Update
I would download the update before starting the Clean Install.

To restore one program only, you will need a separate CD with that particular program on it.
If you want to use the restore disc, you will need to copy off evertyhing you have saved on the PC, documents, music, photos, etc because a full restore will wipe all that out

If you can install one program, go ahead - if it fails, follow the clean install instructions in the pinned post at the top of the forum

Patches - if it's an OEM version, the patch from Roxio won't work - that is specifically for the full retail version so be careful applying it

Now we know it was a registry cleaner that killed it, it's a known issue, and is simply fixed once and for all by downloading and running the Repairer program for EMC 9 which is available from a link halfway down THIS PINNED POST hosted courtesy of Cdanteek.

So this problem goes back that far? I was out of town for the holidays and haven't used Roxio, or at least a video portion of Roxio, for some time. I did burn the Windows7 beta. Anything DVD in Roxio is dead. I've uninstalled 5 times and the 9.1 thing won't load... says it's interupted and quits. This is a Microsoft issue, I know it. I will be doing a complete re-install of my OS and turning off all Windows Updates. I've got a call in to MS support and they are supposed to send me info when it's available about which update killed Roxio 9 (yeah, like that will ever really happen). Good thing I have a friend or two that work at MS>
Anyone else realize that 9.1 is licensed to Microsoft? Does this mean I've lost my Roxio 9 license since 9 won't re-install? I keep getting this message that says the drivers for the program are not digitally signed so the program won't work correctly. It's all a scam.

If you are running Windows 7 beta all bets are off regarding the installation of any other software including any version of Roxio.. I would think that is obvious to anybody.
I have no idea what you mean by "Anyone else realize that 9.1 is licensed to Microsoft?"? EMC 9 is a Roxio product not a Microsoft product.
