In preview of Videowave the last second of each clip in the storyboard or timeline freezes and moves jarringly to the next clip. Using MPEG files via HDV capture. Working with approximately 5 minute clips cutting down to 2 to 5 second shots. There is also two MP3 music tracks. Approximately 2 hours of total MPEG material.  I understand in preview, this might NOT be the case when mastering to DVD or file creation, but its tough to determine what shots are working or not with the freeze.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

'Burn' the output to a .iso file and then load that in a virtual drive (or use a third party app to view it)

Then you will see if that freeze is affecting the output. It's possible that what you are getting is a slight glitch on displayed videop as a transition kicks in (the program is switching to a different file to do this)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Thanks for the quick response.

I will do a burn to an ISO file. I'm pretty sure on the output it will be fine. But still would like to eliminate during the editing process. Makes it almost impossible to tell if a shot is working well editorially.

Any suggestions on correcting the problem within videowave?

Thanks

As I said, it mightn't actually be a problem - preview was never really meant to be hi-def - just an indication of the rendering process

"preview was never really meant to be hi-def"

Really? Wow, that is disappointing.

Would you recommend down converting to another file format such as AVI  that would work in Videowave without the freezing? It really defeats the purpose if you can't see the HD in preview as cut.

Thanks

If you find a sub-$100 editor out there that can do that, let us know…

That sounds like a performance problem with your video card. – I have seen it on mine but a reboot cleared it up. But then you said these were 2 hours of HD mpeg material!

mpeg sucks the life out of any CPU and Hi Def is ever worse.

Jim tried to help me privately with this same issue I have been having for a year!  I didn't see if you are using a laptop.  My problem was I had my HP Notebook in "battery save" mode 24/7.  I switched to this mode which lowers the performance of the notebook to save battery power because my crappy HP battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than an hour. I like to work at coffee houses or in bed w/out a power cord.   I didn't know that this setting stays active even when I plug into AC power!  My notebook was always running on low performance even plugged into the wall outlet. I assumed it went into high performance mode when I plugged it in to AC power since he screen got brighter....duh!  All my mov, mpeg-4, mpeg-2, and AVI files skipped during editing process.  Very frustrating and NO one could figure out why.  I resolved my issue  accidentally switching my battery mode to "performance!"  I haven't seen anyone else with the issue until now so I didn't think my "fix" would be beneficial to anyone.....plus I felt a little embarrassed about the whole affair.  Hope this helps.

BTW....so happy to fix the problem....but now I find out EMC 10 hangs when I try to output my videowave projects to DVD! Baby steps...baby steps!  LOL
