I recently created an hour long DVD show using Roxio 7, DVD Builder. I just had to add the music files in to complete the production. In the meantime I was having some system performance issues so I had my Dell PC rebuilt.  Everything has worked fine since the rebuild and all of my old files are back.  The problem is when I open the saved versions of my DSMD file to begin adding in the music files none of the picture are there -- the shell is the only thing there.

There must be a way to get the pictures and video back -- I spent so much time on this and wanted it for an Xmas gift.  Please help!

Forgot to mention, the pinned post on a similar topic is not relevant.

What do you mean "the shell is the only thing there"?
Are the video clips and photos in exactly the same folders as before?

When I open the file it has the background image I had selected but the title image and all of the pictures/video from the production are not there. I tried to click the "title/browse for missing files" but nothing happens."

Pictures/video are in the same files.

PS - I also uninstalled IE 7 but that did not improve anything.

Often times after uninstalling IE7, you need to go into add/remove programs and do a repair on your EMC 7 install.

Did you also remove/rollback WMP 11?

I just tried the WP11 uninstall.  That seems to have made it worse. The background picture is now gone too.

How do I repair the install of Roxio7? I tried to do so from the add programs and it went through the steps but it did not change anything when I open the project again.  Any ideas?

I also tried the find missing files but that will not bring open a window. I click on the menu option but nothing happens.

When I open the production file in DVD Builder  the files are not there.  The menu option to search for missing files does not work (when I click on it from the menu nothing happens).  I have unistalled IE7 and WM.  In addition I have uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio 7.  I have a Dell computer that was recently rebuilt but none of the file names or folder paths were changed.

Any help is greatly appreciated -- I wanted this production for Xmas and I don't have enough time to recreate it before then.

Thanks.

I assume that you are still running XP; that version does not work with Vista.

Make sure that you still have the original files you used to make your project in the original folders.  Can you navigate to them using Windows? If yes, then try a repair from the Windows Control Pannel/add or remove programs.  Have your disc handy; you may be asked for it.

You may have to do a clean (uninstall)/install to get it to work. Print off the instructions and follow them word by word.  Do not skip any steps.

BTW, why did you have to rebuild your computer?

What is different in this thread than in your previous thread?

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Would you mind sharing the fix with your fellow users, this may help other people that have problems like yours.

I could find all of the files and folders -- which is what made it so frustrating.

I don't know who typed the "it's fixed now" post but it was not me. I tried the uninstall and reinstall after trying the repair. All to no avail.

I guess I have to start from scratch now. I am totally depressed about it.

Thanks for trying to help out.

I had to rebuild b/c it was super slow on startup and all the normal fixes didn't work (defrag, disk cleanup, startup programs, etc...).  I am not sure it was the best solution but it was what my repair guy recommended. I am not seeing all that much of an improvement -- although it is a bit faster.

Huh?  Tony, Chewie is having problems with EMC 7.  The threads have been combined, hence fixed, in answer to Steve's question.
