I have a Panasonic SD9, when I import the file from the SD card, it always states that Roxio needs to make the file into a format to edit. When I then go to view the file or edit the file there is no Audio.

Not sure you need to import. With my sdhc cards, I just copy from the card reader drive to the pc hard drive.

Does that camera come with software that maybe you need to convert it first?

The files are MTS or M2ts files and I have got software with the camcorder which allows me to change the MTS files to MPEG2, which seems pointless as this will reduce the quality?
I thought Roxio would be able to read the files and not have to convert them??
Thanks

If you are planning to burn the video to a DVD it has to be converted to mpeg which is the only format compatible with DVD players. So it is not pointless
