How do I get creator to replace the light package supplied by RIM/Blackberry.

I just installed Creator 2009 Special Edition on a new computer.  I have the Blackberry Media Manager on an old computer. The new computer with Creater 2009 SE is not picking up the blackberry connection.  I do not want ot have to install both programs on the same machine.

The Blackberry probably needs drivers in order to work. Put in the blackberry CD but don't let it autorun

Plug it in. go to add hardware and try to detect the blackberry.

It is however possible that the drivers are 'built-in' in the blackberry OEM version, in which case, you will have to install that.

Maybe someone with a blackberry who is using the full version will be able to help

Just in: (I didn't know about it before) SP2 for 2009 has been released and you should try to update. Among other things it says "Improves compatibility with popular portable devices such as Blackberryphones and iPods."

So try that first
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I just installed Creator 2009 and already had the Roxio Media Manager for my Blackberry desktop manager. After installing Creator 2009, the Roxio Media Manager for the Blackberry doesn't work. It just hangs with an hour glass and has to be cancelled. AFAIK, there's no way to get Creator to work with a Blackberry, which seems like a huge oversight on Roxio's part. Because of this problem, I can't retrieve my photos from the Blackberry. I tried cleaning the registry just in case, but it made no difference. I'm running 64 bit Vista Home Extended edition and the Blackberry has always worked fine with it. Creator 2009 also works fine, but there's some problem that's keeping the Blackberry media manager from working when both products are installed.

Did you read the post above yours?  No one here is a mind reader, so we don't know if you downloaded and installed the updates for Creator 2009.

Yes, I installed the latest update before running it. Sorry I neglected to mention it.

I finally found the problem, which was a popup window which didn't show up anywhere asking for my Blackberry's password. I hate Windows. This problem is in all versions going back to day one (important windows not showing up and hiding in the background). I thought Vista might be more intelligent, but no such luck.

The good news is Media Manager is working just fine. smile.gif

Not for nothing has it been variously nicknamed as ME II (pronounced me too) and Blister laugh.gif
