You are going to have to re-install the program as it's probably been damaged with the other stuff that had to be removed.

There are step by step instructions opn hiow to do the cean install (print them out and do exactly as said - don't add or skip anything)

There are also hidden folders - in My Computer, click on tools, folder options and select 'show hidden files and folders' - you need to get into C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data to get folders there

What are your computer specs? Mainly CPU speed, amount of RAM and graphics card?

Apart from the onboard Intel graphics, everything looks fine - but I wonder if they added anything while it was in the shop?

For it to work, then stop working properly makes me wonder why - and the usual cause is something was added that is slowing things down

If you can find out what was installed, we're half way there wink.gif

Short term - open Videowave and in Tools, options, change it to software render. Also (use task manager) shut down any background apps and see what happens.
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

thanks gi7,
ok i did  what you said, took me awhile to find roxio video wave but in the end i did and changed it to software, and the same with task manager. neither fixed the problem,
as for the shop i check with them tomorrow, but the only thing i had added was 1gb to the ram and the texas mass storaged thing that i had prevously deleted by accerdent, which didnt seem to efect roxio. i mainly had things (so called ) taken out. which was my old printer canon mp180, (now got canon mp610,better) incredemail which they said they took out but there were still bits every where,(same as printer) and a few other things, but i get them to do a list tomorrow ok.

one other thing was norton, i bought more back up storage ,and it didnt work, so i contacted them and they took control of my computer to fix it (from another country) , also problem may be from incredemail? i had a white page pop up all the time trying to connect to the internet, norton done something on there end to stop that,( i prevously used malwarebyte anti malwar( which the shop gave address to and they said to do) it didnt do much at all.
norton was jumping around every where, and change start up programes? but said every thing would still work normal,  white page has been gone since then... i coundnot understand him or understand what he was trying to tell me, so i know that doesnt help,???
i will give you a run of what i did and what happen trying the video wave change to software...

opened rroxio crearor 2009, went to capture video, says to choose device, click on button, not showing dvd22 only usb2.0pc camra,  try again dvd cam ready, took 1minute to load, still not loading, comes up roxio not responding, 30 sec later comes ok, then not responding again, 2 minutes later page flashes and resets itself, still loading, finished, select device or sorce to import,  only showing usb2.0 pc camra( new roxio did load dvd22 twice in the short time i have had it)  but now not even coming up... (last time the dvd came up- it took ages and i could get the movies on the screen but would not let me import it. )
as for any thing else i havent relly tryed , i need video first ,,
i dont know about you but its a pain, i hpe together we can sort this out.
thanks heaps for this

ok im back i talked to the shop and they said basicly what ive already told you, as well as un installing fire fox.
the got me to do a few things over the phone and when you plug my dvd 22 in via usb cable it opens a device called  usb mass storge service,
shop said it (dvd cam)is been recongized as a storge device instead of what ever it is surpose to be, maybe???, they said just to tell you that and see what you can do, i hope this helps more

A 'mass storage device' would be on the lines of a memory stick or an external drive (which sounds as if the computer sees the camera memory/drive but not the optical end of it)

When you plug in the camera, do you see an 'extra' drive in My Computer?

I'm puzzled tho by the fact that it is USB - normally digital video cameras are connnected on the Firewire port. Analogue ones require a special connection to USB

in my computer , thats what comes up when you connect the dvd cam "usb mass storge service" when you disconnect the cam that( usb mass storge service)  disapears.
i had a bit of a fidle around in creator last nigt and i get run time errors every where
runtime error ...gram files\roxio creator 2009\videoui ii\videowave ii.exe
abnormal termination.
also runtime error as above but also please contact applicats surport team for more info, roxio has stoped working.
i was woundering should i return roxio creator and just buy a basic one , just to do basic stuff cause i think this one i got is a bit fancy for me anyway...and maybe if i go through the whole un install process again maybe that might help??? or not...

what do you think?  is there a basic roxio just to add a menue , edit , add muic backgroung and import from dvd cam corders!
i did get a roxio dvd with my cam thats how i got to this site"roxio My DVD for canon" by sonic solutions..p/n d891470(01)
but instead of loading properly it tells me it no longer operational and go to roxio site to up date it,
look i dont know what to do as ive said i dont know to much about computers, thankyou for putting up with me.

you said the digical camras are connected to the firewire port.whats that and where do you find it?
my canon dvd is a dvd22 it has a mini dvd disc inside and you record onto it i only use dvd-r as that works the best, i only bought it about 5 months ago at the most.  but the last roxio i had in ,it worked with the dvd usb cable, in the instruction book it tells you to connect via the usb cable that was surplied with the cam, then run mydvd for canon and so forth.
any ideas

If that is a minDVD camcorder, you don't capture the video from it.  You finalize the miniDVD, make a folder on your hard drive, and copy all files and folders, from the miniDVD, to your hard drive.

You then open VideoWave, click on Add Photo/Video, browse to the Video_TS folder, that is in the folder you just made, and bring in all of the .vob files for editing.

ok sorry it took a while to get back,
even so the usb cable worked last time,
i did the finerlise the disc but as for the rest you said it didnt work at all,
so dont know whats happening there.
i tryed putting it in the dvd drive and import through roxio from sorce dcd drive and that worked i can now load all my discs on but only through roxio.
so i started to have a play around, and for a while things seemed to work with a occational runtime error, But now im getting them every where.
i get *ROXIO MEDIA CAPTURE HAS STOPPED WORKING, PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAMMES TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY,
*WIZARD LAUNCHER MODLE STOPPED WORKING,
*MEDIA MANAGELL MODULE IS NOT RESPONDING,
*ROXIO VIDEO WAVE MIROSOFT VISUAL C++RUNTIME LIBRARY RUNTIME ERROR, PROGRAMME---GRAM FILES\ROXIO CREATOR 2009\VIDEOUI11\VIDEOS. THIS APPLICATION HAS REQUESTED THE RUNTIME TO TERMINATE IT IN AN UNUSUAL WAY PLEASE CONTACT SUPPORT.
*OPEDED VIDEO WAVE AN RUN TIME ERROR AND THEN IT LOCKED UP THE COMPUTER AND THE PROGRAMME WOULDNT CLOSE I HAD TO SHUT THE COMPUTER DOWN AN RESTART COMPUTER TO GET OUT OF IT
*RUN TIME ERROR VIDEO WAVE II.EXE R6025 -PURE VIRTUAL FUNCTION CALL.
*AND TRYED GOING BACK IN AND IF YOU CLICKED ADD PHOTO VIDEO RUN TIME ERROR,
AND WHERE YOU ADD TRANSITION AND OTHER STUFF IT HAS ALL DISAPEARED AND SAYS THERE ARE NO ITEMS TO SHOW IN THIS VIEW...

boy o boy,     some thing is wrong any ideas???
