I have a ton of AVI files that are in random order.  I wanted to take the large AVIs and splice them up into scenes so I can then reorder them once I have them in chronological order.   Then I can put them in Videowave for editing, etc.

Does anyone know if there is a an easy way to take a large AVI, split it up and save it off as smaller AVI files?  If not, is there software that will let me do this or a better way to accomplish this?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Why split into different files?  You can do that in Videowave as one large file.  Just add the file to Videowave, make your splits, change to storyboard mode and move the pieces around like you want.

I have multiple large AVI files.  It's not just one.  I didn't want to import 20 AVIs in random order and try to organize them in Videowave.  I was hoping to do some of the grunt work up front.  Does that make sense?

No…

It is one way to handle it but there are other ways. Actually there is not any Right or Wrong way.

Look through the Tips & Tricks posting about Strategy for some other views.

If you're taking bits and pieces from different files, you can still do that in Videowave.  Anyway you look at it, it will be time consuming.

Unfortunately, Videowave can't export just a small section at a time.  You would have to make the edits and then Output to File.  This, too, would be very time consumng, but might help when putting the pieces back together.  I don't know of any application that will save edits as individual files in one step.
