I have EMC 7 and it has worked fine until recently. My specs are Windows XP Home, Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media Player 11. After I make my video/slide show in EMC 7 (Videowave) and I click on "Burn Production to Disk", the system starts to access DVD Builder and then I get a message that DVD Buider cannot be accessed. After researching in this forum, I found comments that state that EMC is not compatible with IE7 & Windows Media Player 11. (I have had IE 7 for a long time...over a year, but Media Player for about 3 months(?). Forum contributers suggested that I uninstall Media Player 11. I followed the instruction to uninstall ( a little more complicated because it is actually imbeded in Windows XP), but it still will not uninstall. Also, when I reported this problem to Microsoft, I got a screen which shows that the OS is "Windows NT 5.1, Build 2600.....but I have XP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Did you uninstall IE 7 also? You have to roll back to IE 6.
Did you happen to update to XP-SP 3, after both IE 7 and WMP 11 were installed? If so, you have a big problem in that you won't be able to remove IE 7.
What do you mean when you say WMP 11 won't uninstall? Do you get some sort of message?

Yes, I have XP-SP3, but I haven't had any problems with IE7 and EMC7. It just seems to have developed sometime after I upgraded to WMP11 (I think....because I haven't actually used EMC 7 much in the last 3 months)...but I do know that I didn't have any problems making DVDs just prior to that....with IE 7.
When I said that WMP11 won't uninstall, I mean that I went through the process outlined by MS....but it is still on my computer.
I also have EMC8 (that I really don't care for) and it has similar problems.
Does anyone know if EMC9 is much of an improvement....ie does it also have compatibility problems with IE7 and WMP11?
Thanks again for your help.

Check the minimum computer specifications for the latest version -- Creator 2009. Make sure your computer exceeds those specification; if not, stay with EMC 7/7.5. Of primary importance is a good stand alone video card. If you have an old laptop, you probably only have a chip and that probably won't do it.
Neither EMC 10 nor Creator 2009 have problems with those Microsoft updates. You can probably pick up the full version of EMC 10 on e-bay or similar for under $50. You can get Creator 2009 for just over $50 if you look hard. If you buy directly from Roxio, you have 30 days to get a refund if it doesn't work for you or you don't like it". As you can image, there will be a learning cure for the new versions; you'll have to forget much of what you know.
"Minimum System Requirements:
Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Basic, Windows® XP SP2 (32- or 64-bit), 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM [my note :more like 1.75 non-Celeron dual core and 1G RAM minimums]
1024x768 DirectX 9 compatible graphics card with at least 16-bit color setting, sound card, DVD-ROM drive [my note: card with 256 mb on board memory is desired]
Hard drive with at least 3 GB free space for installation
Windows Media Player 10
Internet Explorer 7. Internet connection required for registration, product updates, and some features. Any Internet charges are the user's responsibility.
For video capture: OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 FireWire card (for use with DV camera) or analog video capture device [my note: device available from Roxio]
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Actually, you can uninstall WinXP SP3 and then uninstall IE 7.

Just a follow-up to let everyone know that I now have EMC7 up and running (e.g. DVD Builder) ....thanks to several of you and your suggestions. I uninstalled Service Pack 3, uninstalled IE7, reinstalled SP3 and "builder" seems to work fine now. However, I did not unistall Windows Media Player 11. (????????).
Anyway....everything seems to be working fine now....but I reserve the right to come back to you in the future.
Thanks again...I really appreciate you all taking the time to help me with my problem.
Take care.

Glad you got it working.
Not everyone needs to uninstall WMP 11 to get the program to work again.
You might want to turn off the Windows Automatic Updates and do it manually in the future. Otherwise, Windows might automatically download and install those updates that 'break' version 7.

I just went through the same thing. WMP11 disrupts EMC7. I also had trouble with uninstalling WMP11 but finally succeeded by first reinstalling it. Next I uninstalled it using "add/remove Programs", restarted my computer then went back to "add/remove Programs" and uninstalled wmp11 runtime. Restart again and after that everything should work as before.
