I am using an iMac with the latest version of Leopard. I just purchased Popcorn 3 at a retailer and installed it a couple days ago using the disc. I completed the installation and registration process, but did not use the application at that time. Now when I go to open it, the Popcorn icon appears on the Dock for only a second or two, then goes poof and disappears. Do I try a re-install, or is there something else I should do to open Popcorn?
Subsequent to posting this, I tried a reinstallation of Popcorn 3, but still have the same problem --- the program will not open. It appears on the Dock for one second, then disappears. The title never appears at the top of the screen. Help!

Download the latest Popcorn update from the Roxio downloads site. It is the complete application so you don't need the one on the disc.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Thanks, that worked. It defeated the purpose of going to the store so I could have the disk as backup, but, at least now, the application works. Thanks again.

Their download does not work. It does not start (and yes I am logged in.)

When I click on to the link at http://www.roxio.com/Registration/(F(nvbEV...?download_id=92

it takes me back to the support page. this seems like a techie cavilier attempt to post something but he doesn't get it right so the download doesn't get to us, but he thinks it's going to.

Bottom line The download does not start in either Firefox or Safari

You'd think they would get this right after selling a program to us in a box marked that it works and then we find it doesn't.

Very disappointing.

Now I have attempted to send a help desk ticket and the help desk ticket program just hangs and doesn't send my ticket in.
Now I am really questioning the seriousness of this program and this company.

tomeross,

I haven't experienced this issue but I know others have. It may be related to using something like a speed download utility or some other third-party tool that modifies Safari or Firefox. I wish I knew exactly what you need to do to get to the download link but it is something at your end that doesn't work with Roxio's server.

Tsantee, I don't know if you work in any way or not with Roxio, but my Safari web browser is as clean as a whistle, it should work with that. I almost exclusively use FireFox.
Since I haven't added anything to safari, I rarely every use it, and since everything downloads just fine from everybody else's site, I think that would be an example of technically passing the buck. Techies do that way too much. I don't see any space for cutting any slack on that, if I can download from 5 other distributors of Apple Software, I should be able to do so from Roxio. Blaming the customer is not a process for developing an effective relationship with customers, while it may make the techie feel better it simply shows a lack of knowledge about how to set up a download site that works with everybody's machine.

I share your frustration!!! Like I said, I got the download to work. I think what I did was use Safari to go the main page for Roxio, select Popcorn, and click to download like I was buying it for the first time. Since I had registered the product from the box, Roxio recognized that, so I entered my Key # from the box and then the updated software download began. Even after that, it was a pain to get to work. I figured out that I had to get the download into my applications folder, then drag the downloaded update onto the Popcorn icon in the Applications folder. The first time I tried it, it did not work, but did the second time, and I was finally able to open Popcorn.

Then, the real fun begins. What an obtuse, user-unfriendly program, if you want to do anything other than simply copying a dvd. With a lot of work, I have been able to sort thru some of the maze, and hope that others on this board can get me the rest of the way!
