Looking For Msi Reload From The Installation Disc

when i open 2009 program windows installation comes up and tells me to insert the installation disc 1 and is looking for
msi type load, then it tells me that this is not on that disc. the program runs ok but the installation program keeps braking in
all the time and i cant close it. does any one know what this means??

If you have the download version, open that with winrar or winzip and extract all files to a temporary folder on the hard drive (it's a self-extracting archive)

The msi installer will be in that folder

I tried that and am getting error 1706 unable to find it..

When it looks for the msi file, you have to browse to the folder you extracted to to let it find it - it won't go there automatically

If this happens to be the same error message that I kept getting, I saw a tip somewhere on the message boards that it was because of my wireless mouse.  I unplugged my mouse and opened the application and then it worked.  I then plugged my mouse back in and it continued to work.  Must have been missing a connection somehow because of the mouse - don't ask me how though!
