Hello.  I have converted numerous VHS Tapes to DVD and have used Roxio to create CD2 and ISO files of them.  I would like to cut various portions of the video I created and make individual AVI files with which I will add to a new Videowave Production.  However, I'm at a loss in how to do this.  Is it possible to do what I am trying to do with Roxio 2009 or do I need to purchase additional software?

Thanks for your assistance.

Easiest way???

Burn to a Folder on your HD and add them to VideoWave.

Edit in VW and use the Output As option to make a new file.

One thought. You have converted these to mpeg2 when you made the ISO's When you load them into VW it will do some minor converting from VOB into mpeg2.

There are going to be some quality loses by now, so stick with mpeg2 rather than rendering again to AVI then rendering that yet again to mpeg2… (I'm dizzy???)

Thank you for the reply.  I opened VW and attempted to add both the ISO file and the CD2 file that I created but it won't allow me--I don't see either of those file types as valid options for adding into VW.  I must be misunderstanding what you are suggesting to do.  If you can write back I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

You can't add either of those types of files to VideoWave.  You need to bring in the original captured files, if you want to edit them.

OK--but how do I do that?  All I have is an ISO file that I created.  What can I do with that?  Can I convert it to AVI or MPEG?  If so, how?  Is EMC capable of doing this or is there another software package that can do this?  Basically, I took a VHS tape and recorded it with a DVD Recorder.  I then took the DVD and used EMC to create an ISO/CD2 file of it.  Now, I want to just the ability to cut various scenes from that big video and create separate AVI files then use VW to create a production.

Thanks for your help.

If you still have the DVD, make a folder on your hard drive, copy the files/folders from the DVD, to that folder you made, take the DVD out of your drive, open VideoWave, and bring in the .VOB files, from the Video_TS folder, on your hard drive.

Sorry about the long sentence, but that is the way you can edit your video.

Or go back and re-read my post and follow it this time  laugh.gif

You have to burn to Folder first! You can't skip this and jump to VW…

Use Video Copy & Convert and select the File/Folder in the Destination pane.

Alternatively, and I'm not sure why this hasn't been mentioned, you can load the .ISO as a virtual drive using Disc Image Loader.  Then you can access the .VOB files "directly" without going through the "burn to folder" step.  (Look under the Copy options for Disc Image Loader.)

Hope that helps!

Good one Dave.  smile.gif  First loading a DVD Video ISO Image file already on my hard drive, using Disc Image Loader in my emulated drive Z. I had no problem using C 2009 in Videowave or MyDVD, add video or photo/add new movie, navigating to , my computer, emulated drive Z, video_ts folder set, and loading the vob's in Videowave or MyDVD.

This part I don't understand tho?  (Look under the Copy options for Disc Image Loader.)      unsure.gif

You're right, CD.  I wasn't at my home PC, and couldn't recall where to find Disc Image Loader, and looking at the on-line literature, it appeared that's where it was.  Now I can see that it's under "Tools" on the home application.
