I picked up Creator 2009 with the USB capture device for only $63 at Costco. I had a fire wire card in my dell. I added added a 640 gig hard drive for $75.
I used Creator 2009 to capture old tapes to AVI files. It worked great using a firewire card for my Mini DV camera and also using the Roxio USB capture from my old Video 8 Handycam. I put about one hour of video into each file (approximately 12 gigs). The software works great to burn 4.7 gig DVDs from the 12 gig AVI files. I almost filled up a 640 gig hard drive that I just installed.
I want to copy specific sections out of the AVI files to make personalized DVDs for family members.
For example I want to copy clips form many of the AVI files and make a new 12 gig AVI file, which can then be burned to DVD
Can Creator 2009 be used to copy clips out of the AVI files?
If yes , how?
If I make "productions" they really don't copy out of actual avi files.
Is there easier software to use? Thank you.

If yes , how? See this forum and check out sknis' posts
If I make "productions" they really don't copy out of actual avi files. When using the program Videowave, the actual files being referenced are preserved. The production simply creates instruction of the files to be used and the various editing that are done.
Is there easier software to use? You already have it: Roxio Creator 2009
Thank you.
