I haven't noticed that anyone else may be having this problem but for me, reinstalling EMC 10 is an almost weekly project. After about a week double clicking on the black and white EMC 10 icon results in only a two second hour glass and nothing else. At this point it is time to use the Microsoft Removal Tool, remove all references to Roxio and Sonic on the hard drives and in the registry, etc. etc. This takes at least 1/2 hour. Then reinstalling EMC 10 takes another 1/2 hour. This is at least an hour lost weekly because of this problem. The EMC 10 installation must be extremely FRAGILE as it is being frequently ruined by something?? I often wonder if one or more of the EMC 10 startup files has a filename extension of .tmp. because junk file cleaners remove them. It would be nice when attempting to startup EMC 10 if an error box would display what the problem is rather than simply showing that it is ignoring the user. I am using Windows XP SP3, Norton Antivirus, Zonealarm. Any help greatly appreciated.
Jerry

It appears that you haven't told Norton to ignore Roxio/Sonic entries.

The EMC 10 Repairer tool worked on my setup. What a time saver! Now I will check into the Norton Roxio/Sonic Settings. Thanks so much for your help!

If you've successfully used Repairer, you should now be able to keep using your registry cleaners as before without having to make exceptions for Roxio.

The new key written by the Repairer has been corrected, and is no longer vulnerable.

You're welcome.

John...I have downloaded the repairer tool, only to get an "error code 2" when I go to launch the application.   Do you have a link for another way to access the repairer?

If you get "Error code 2" it means that the Repairer has checked and found there's nothing wrong with the registry key that it fixes. It's a one-time hotfix for a particular problem, and not a cure-all for assorted problems.

Start a fresh topic and lay out your problems, and we'll try to help you.
