OS is Vista Premim.
According to setup. I cannot use Vista to perfom this function as the  line in option does not work.
I managed to get it to work once but the playback volume was poor. I use a preamp as specd. This same system works fine with XP and the volume level os ok.I  know that the sound card in the Vista PC is ok as it work fine otherwise..I thought 2009 was compatible with Vista at least that is what I read when I purchased it. Appreciate your comments

Creator 2009 is comaptible with Vista.  Vista has a weird sense of humor in how it handles sound.

Someone, who uses Vista, should drop in and get you squared away.

Unfortunately I live in a small community wherer there are no others who know  how to get me  "squared away" as we also used to say in the navy. How about you giving me a lead or so to get things squared away .
