I tried installing and got the no permission to launch error.  I was sent instructions on how to uninstall everything and try again, but when I tried to unhide the hidden folders I never found the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Sonic

So I deleted everything else and tried re-installing anyway, and it still didn't work.  I believe I am signed on as the administrator, but not sure how to check. (There is only account on this computer.)

Also, I do have a wireless mouse, I saw that question in another post.  Does that effect the install?

Any suggestions?

Any help is appreciated!  I'm anxious to use the software!

You have to set Windows to show hidden folders

Go to C Drive, Documents and settings and in Tools, go to Folder Options, View - select 'show hidden files and folders and you wills ee a folder called Application Data - they are in there

Wireless mouse won't affect install but will probably affect the running

I did that, but the folders still don't show up.

I changed it from "Do not show hidden filed and folders" to "Show hidden files and folders"

I even did a search and couldn't find the Application Data folders.

What else can I try?

It sounds to me like you aren't finding them, because you are looking in the wrong place. At least based on the paths you listed in your first post of:
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Sonic

The paths are actually
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Sonic

where the <user name> is each user of the computer. For example

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\Larry\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Larry\Application Data\Sonic

Sounds like they didn't install, but there should be three sets of data - user, guest and admin. Did you check in each (most likely under <username>)?

Okay.  I finally have it installed.  Thanks so much for the help!!  I think the issue was that the first set of instructions I was sent when I opened a ticket through support was wrong or incomplete.

I was emailed instructions titled  "Resolving missing installer, .msi, and network resource issues" which told me to delete only these files:
C:\Program Files\Roxio
C:\Program Files\Sonic
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Sonic

But on this forum I found the directions titled "Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 on Windows XP" which told me to delete these files:
C:\Program Files\Roxio
C:\Program Files\Roxio Creator 2009 (may include "Special Edition" or "Ultimate")
C:\Program Files\Sonic
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Sonic
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\RoxioCentralFX

Also, the second set of instructions sent me to the Control Panel to uninstall, the first set did not.

Now that it is installed, do I need the Service Pack 2?
