Frank, I'm not sure if this has been activated for everyone but below the text box in the reply are your Post Options and then File Attachments.  You brownse to where your file is saved and select Add This Attachment.
If you can't see this, then, most likely, it hasn't be set yet.  I believe I read where this may be the case.

Hey folks, I don't currently have a personal web site so that I can specify a URL link for attaching an image to my post. So what are my options? Per Beerman's old post from 2006, I see Post Options, but I do NOT see File Attachments anywhere. How do I get this capability? It would sure make my posts more useful if I could add some screen shots regarding various issues!

Phil,

You're posting to a 4 1/2 year old dead thread.

The board software has changed a lot since then.

You can't attach files to messages in any of the "legacy" forums.

Brendon,

Of course I realized the last post for this subject was in 2006.

However, my attempts to figure out how to put screen shot images in my posts have been unsuccessful. "Help" was very little help, and as I stated, I do not currently have a personal web site, so I can't just click on the "insert image" icon and point to my screen shot jpg files. Please, can you or someone point me to current information on how to insert pictures or add attachments to posts? I have been unable to do this for my posts regarding a Blu-Ray problem (in the Creator 2010 forum), and believe me I have looked for this information. I have simple questions: Do I NEED a personal web site so I can use a URL to point to my files? Do my files have to be looked at and accepted by a moderator? And similar. Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this subject. I am getting pretty frustrated. I'm not a novice user, and I consider these forums much harder to use than the others with which I'm familiar.

You'd need to find a free 'hosting' website that you can link to

As Brendon said, the ability to actually include graphics is restricted to the 'current' forums and will not be available in the 'legacy' ones
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I don't want to include a graphic in any lgeacy forum, I want to include screen shots in a CURRENT forum. Please note that the help file for Posting mentions a CHOOSE FILE button and ATTACH THE FILE button. I do not see a CHOOSE FILE BUTTON. I tentatively conclude that either the help files are not up to date or that there is some problem with my browser/OS combination that is preventing me from seeing the buttons. I get the following browser error or similar on every forum page. I do not know if this is keeping me from seeing things I should see. The IE8 data for the error is as follows:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C)

If you want to include an image a current forum then why are you posting in the legacy forums? Why not post in the current forum you are interested in?

Also there may still be problems in users being able to include images in the "current" forums as this is being set up for the new board.

I DID mention this in the current forum I was posting to. The response from the moderator, gi7omy, was "The uploading is being a bit problematic at the mokment - but it's being worked on". Not information I can use, but I appreciate even that much. As to why I posted in this dead forum, it was the only place I could find through forum search where my problem was mentioned, so I thought perhaps someone would see it and direct me to the appropriate place. I did not mean to start a long dialog in a dead forum!

Please - I am not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to get answers to my problems. The only response I need from anyone reading this is where to go to get the information I need. And as you suggested, I DID mention the post problem in the Blu-Ray and AVHCD forum topic "Cineplayer BD 5.5 will not play standard DVDs", with no usable result. So perhaps you can understand a little of my frustration. It appears from your response and that of gi7omy that no one has the answer to my problem of not being able to include screen shots in a post. So, I give up for now. I will continue to look at my original problem in the above-mentioned forum, but I will be making no more posts in this one. Thanks for even bothering to look here, and I apologize if I have offended anyone.

MNo offence taken - it was just a bit strange seeing a long dead thread spring back to life really
