Went through this entire list, made sure of everything. Only thing I didn't do was disk defrag, as Windows said I didn't need to. Install says it's installing DirectX 9 runtime for a few seconds, then quits with the Installation Interrupted error.
Only thing odd I noticed as I went through the list is that DXDIAG's System page is still showing a DirectX version with the "old" incremental version number, instead of the new "month and year" number. But I watched the update process and saw it pulling down files just a month or two old, and the Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.dll file is current.
I'm totally out of ideas as to what is going wrong.

Yep, early on. That file has never appeared on the PC at any time during any of several attempts to do this install.

Thanks
Chrissie
I'm pretty sure the installation hints say to LOOK for this file, and delete it if you find it. That is, it may not exist on your PC, as it doesn't on the one I'm working on. I assume the Roxio installation has to get to a certain point before that file will be installed, and neither you nor I are getting that far <grin>.

Open My Computer (or Computer for Vista users) from your Start menu.
Go to C: drive -> Windows folder -> System32 folder.
Look for a file called dsetup.dll in the System32 folder.
Rename the file to "dsetupOLD.dll" or delete the file.
Reinstall Creator 2009 (or whatever program it is) and follow the on-screen instructions.

The link, in Post #5 of this thread, addresses that file, and the people here, who are having problems, did not find that file.

I found it in C:\ Windows. After renaming to dsetupOLD.dll I was then able to install creator 2009 with no problems
