I adjusted the loudness of music tracks as I needed at the beginning, middle and end of sound tracks.  The problem only happens with the last dot on the volume envelope.  The last dot returns to a middle position after you save your work.  All the other envelope markers (dots) are adjusting the sound loudness as desired.  Is there another way to do this or am I missing something?   :)    JP

That one was so tricky that I gave up trying and used the automatic fade out.  Use the speaker icon and select fade in/out  You cannot adjust the speed of the fade in/out. Even if you get the combination of the two set correctly, some have reported that saving the file will restore that last "dot" to the set sound level.  I upgraded to the deluxe and it has the old style audio editor that was in the previous version of EMC.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Argh!! This just limits my creativity and control.  :) The speaker icon fade in/out just doesn't offer much control.

You mention that you have upgraded to the deluxe version--- if it's what you say, looks like I'll be upgrading. Are you able to preview the slideshow while you are editing the tracks (as in 7 and 7.5)?

VideoWave 8 Deluxe is like VideoWave 7 with a lot of extra transitions, effects, etc if you have the right computer for it. Video Wave 8 (the other boxes)  is more like an automated version of V7/7.5 where some features have been removed for the less experienced.  For either  version. you must have a good video card. On-board video (like on laptops) or video cards with less than 128 Mb have problems especially if the drivers are older.  I think it is a toss up on writing to DVDs with MyDVD Vs DVD Builder but there are a lot of extras in the Deluxe version.

If you have EMC 8, there is supposed to be an upgrade available to the deluxe version in the near future.  I have no idea about what they will be charging for this upgrade.  If you have V7/7.5 I know that there is a rebate coupon to V 8.  There is a learning curve associated with V8; not everything works the same as V7/7.5  so it sometimes helps to forget a lot of what you learned.  As with new versions, some people have problems with some things.  Since the beta, things have improved and I have only one issue with it.

If you are happy with V7/7.5 and don't see anything new that is interesting to you, or if you have a marginal computer, I see no great reason to upgrade to V8.  Two of the functions that are special in V8 is the panorama (photo stitching tool) which seems to be magical in the way it works and also the ability to burn music onto a DVD disc (not DVD-A).  One person recently posted that they put 25 LPs on a DVD and still filled only about half the disc.  How's that for an all- night party mix.!

Thanks for the reply. I have had EMC 7, 7.5 and have now moved on to 8. You are right about the learning curve--it is quite a bit different than the previous versions. It is somewhat automated and I can't wait for this upgrade to be available since the features offer more user control.

I called Roxio to inquire about any offers for this upgrade and was told that it will be available next week (early May) and registered users/owners will be sent an email for an offer to upgrade from EMC 8 Suite to the Deluxe for $19.99
This will make me happy

It is worth every penny of that $20.  When you get it, post back with your opinion.

If they also offer the "90" capture device for extra $ , go out and have a beer (or other beverage) instead :)

Thank you for the comments.  I have EMC8 and I'll use the speaker icon option.  I agree that the fade out is way too fast and a little more control there would be necessary. The deluxe version may include this level of control.  Who knows?

Thanks again,  JP     :)

As stated in another post.  Yes you have full control of the sound track including the ability to adjust the fade in/out in what looks to be hundreths of a second.

I'm not sure how you would check that ---tenths of a second are good enough for me.

I dunno. I have this bad feeling it's going to be a downloadable update. We all know how much fun those can be.
