I have Easy CD 5 & DVD Creator installed on my Windows XP notebook.
I just uninstalled my Avast antvirus and tried to install AVG instead ,
but a box comes up saying :
Roxio Easy CD 5 & DVD Creator
Which contains a bug that (among others) can cause problems with AVG 8.0
And to update software.
Where do I get the update ?

The 'bug. is in AVG - try a different anti-virus program wink.gif

This one has been recommended by several people in the Windows 7 discussion group:

Is that two separate [programs? I don't think 5 could do DVDs

There are Easy CD Creator 5, and Easy CD and DVD Creator 6.

Altho if memory serves me right, there was an OEM [Original Equipment Mfgr] ECDC 5 Version that included the ECD/DVDC 6 abilities for DVD Video. Since you say it came with your computer, it is probably this off-beat variation.

This is the patch -
http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/mserr/cdr4_7.html

BUT - I consider AVG a Virus or worse. A friend of mine thought all the "Viruses" it found were really Viruses, and wiped out half his software and his addess book for his entire church. It was possible to recover most of the software; he had to ask everyone for their (several hundred) email addresses to manually re-enter.

I'm currently using Avast!

That was a LaCie version of ECD6 that had dual layer support (it's the only one that did) wink.gif

Point is Lynn there was no version of 5 that supported DVD - the only legacy product which did anything out of the ordinary (had something the retail version didn't) was the one I mentioned

ALL Versions of ECDC 5 are capable of DVD Data discs. That was a major upgrade over ECDC 4.

DVD Video began with V.6, and I'm pretty sure I recall someone had an OEM that included DVD Video.

And we aren't talking about an "update" so much as the file AVG chokes on. I would refer to the knowledgebase article, but the KB search function has been "improved" from almost useless to totally useless sad.gif

Lynn

PS - ECDC 5 updates are still available on Roxio.co.uk
http://www.roxio.co.uk/eng/support/softwar...es/default.html
but who knows for how long?
