I'm a newbie to DVD it Pro HD and to Blu ray. So I have some questions.
1: How do you make a particular button the default highlighted button on a menu ?
2: How much video can you fit on a Blu Ray 25 Gig disk ? Say 1080i.
3: How do you get a button to return to the same menu when it's done playing and not the main menu ?

Hope you guys can help and sorry for my ignorance of this. I'm used to using Ulead DVD workshop 2.

The amount of video will depend on your bitrate that you used. I would say about 1 1/2-2 hours @ 20mbps, just a rough estimate.

Not in front of my computer, but there should be an option on what the clip does after it finishes in the clip properties.

at 25mbps you can easily fit 2 hours.

2.5 hours can be done if you encode with 20mpbs average / 30mbs max VBR.

DVDITPROHD works best and is most stable when everything is prepared in advance.
menu's, video encoding etc....

Thanks for the help guys, I do have one more thing to ask. DVDit Pro HD dones not do a very good job of warning you about things not fitting on the disk. The little disk fuel gage is not very accurate. I tried doing a standard DVD project and when I burned the project it made no indication that the show would not fit on the disk. It just gleefully made a coaster. It took me three tries to get it right. This can get costly when trying this on Blu ray. Any suggestions ?

yeah, don't use dvditpro hd for burning either.

just use it to compile dvd or blu-ray folders from prepared assets.

it has worked 100% of the time for me doing it this way.

as nice as it would be (ideal world) for an app to take any video
and spit out a finished dvd with good looking encoding and
reliable burning.....this just isn't going to happen.

Being an extreme newbie at this could you explain the process you use to make a Blu-ray ?

I encode all of my videos to mpg and ac3 files with apple compressor.

I prepare my graphics in photo shop if I have menu

I import them into dvditpro-hd, set everything up (read the manual if your unsure on this)

then after using the simulator to verify operation, then click Burn, Write Volume, pick the BD-R (25 or 50 gb)
then it just builds the root folders, which I then burn with Nero.

I ditto that, however I use Adobe CS3 mediaencoder and PCM audio.
I create disc images, plays them for previewing loading them into Daemon tools and plays them with power dvd Ultra.

Burner app from those iso files is Ulead Burn now

Thanks for the info guys. Although I run a PC so most of the apps you use don't apply to me. I've used ULead with great success over the years. I may just use it to do the SD versions and DVDit Pro HD for the Blu-ray version. I have Sqweeze to do my encoding and it dose Blu-ray. So all I would need DVDit Pro HD for is making up the menus.

Squeeze would work well and if you want to make dvd discs from your bd projects, just let dvdit pro hd reencode your bd file
