I have Creator 2009 Ultimate.  It says that you can burn up to 1 hour of HD on a standard DVD.  How do you do this?  Is the HQ setting the same as HD or do I need to do something different.

When you open MyDVD you should get a list of possible projects.  Choose AVCHD on standard DVD with or without menu.  When the project is ready, go to FILE / Project Setting and choose one of the options.

When I create a AVCHD on standard DVD project with menu, here are the estimated times given by MyDVD:

HQ  1920x1080p 40m24s
SP   1920X1080i 50m16s
LP  1440x1080i  1 hr
EP  1280X720p  1h24m31s

These disc are burned using the Bluray format and will NOT play on a regular DVD player.  Also WinXP does not support this format and needs a special driver.  Vista does support this format so all you need is Bluray software like Cineplayer 5 which is included in Creator 2009.

OK now that works but when I go to burn to dual layer DVD it takes about 18 hours and then I get "error writing format". Suggestions?

What brand of DL disc?  I haven't had a need for dual layer yet.

With that many hours involved don't try to burn to a DVD directly!

Burn to File on your HD and use Video Copy and Convert to burn the File contents to a DVD.

Yes I think I understand. I tried burning to a file on my HD.  Everything got to 100% then got the error.

That indicates it is during the end of the Render phase.

How about shorter projects – 10 minutes – 30 minutes, etc.???

Ready to try a Clean Install?

Vista
XP

The trick to Clean Install is to print it out so it is by your side and follow it step by step using the More or Less method. (Don't do More than it says and don't do Less!)

Are you burning to ISO?  Seems like someone else had this issue.  Try burning to video folder, too.

What is the source of the file?  Camcorder, internet?  M2T, MP4, MOV, Divx?  Have you tried other files or keep using the same file over and over?  We need to determine if it is the file or not.

The source is TIVO.  I have been trying the same file but tried a shorter segment from a different file and it worked fine to iso file.  Will try reducing the size of the original and see if that works.  Thanks for all your help.

Make sure you have the latest version of Tivo Desktop.  I don't know anyone with Tivo, but make sure the channel you recorded isn't copy protected.

Still working with it.  Appears that part of the file is bad so trying to isolate the bad portion.  Can leave out the first segment and works ok with only the second segment.  Will keep trying or discard this program and try another one.  Thanks again for your help.
