Does Roxio Creator 9 supports or compitable with Panasonic Camcoder HDC-SD9? Would the Capture device in the Roxio recognise the Camocrder as video device once it is connected with PC via the USB?

It probably won't

BUT

you have two options, put the memory card in your computer and then copy the files to your hard drive (it is possible that you can just connect the camera - the program may just recognize it as a external drive) OR connect your Camcorder to your computer with a Firewire cable and capture that. OOps, I can't find where that camera has a Firewire port; just a USB port.

Note the capture device is simply an analog to digital converter. Since your camcorder is already in digital format (AVCHD), you don't want any conversion.

Thanks for promptly attending to my query. The program doesn't recognise the camcorder I don't know if it is because I am still using Creator8. So what I did was copied the file using Panasonic HD writer software (came with the product) and then converted into MPEG format(due to the size about 1 hour 40 min in HD format) using one of its option which then I then added to Roxio creator 8 and tried to burn it to a DVD but it keeps stalling after or during 4% endcoding. Do know what am I doing wrong?

For the same reason I was enquiring if the Creator 9 would do the trick and also I can add the recording from my camcorder directly to Creator 9 if it recognises then I can be able to burn the recording in HD format without converting.

Also FYI the Firewire port in the camcorder is located bottom of the panel under a sliding cover.

Could you please help.

Easy Media Creator 9 can't handle Hi def - Creator 2009 can

Why they decided to call it 2009 - none of us know but it does get confusing, so it's better if you use the correct name, then we know what you are talking about
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

High Definition capture, editing and burning was added to Roxio Creator 2009. Yes, Media Import does support some of these camcorders with USB 2. Do a search on the forum for SD9. I think there have been a few other posts.

Have you tried that Firewire connection? If you don't have a cable, you'll have to buy one. Get a good one and make sure that the connectors match the connections on your devices (4 and/or 6 pin). That should at least get the video on your computer. If you have the option and the hard drive free space, capture as AVI if you can; otherwise capture as mpg2.
