I've spent almost 15 hours with Dell technical support over 5 phone calls.  I'm sure that someone here is smarter than Dell!  My initial call was about Roxio not reading my blu-ray drive.  It said, 'drive not detected.' They fixed that but in the process, created a new user account (Dell Test) and then logged out and deleted the user account half way through the trial burn he was having me do.  Now, when I open Roxio, in the bottom left hand corner it says, 'in use by Dell Test'.  When I click on the eject button, a pop up window says, 'That drive is in use by another user or another product.'  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio 4 times. Made sure my Blu-Ray driver is up-to-date.  Help?!!!  It won't go away or let me burn!  I can burn to a disk using Explore folders but can't burn to blu-ray and need Roxio to work!

Are you sure of the version number? I don't think EMC 10 or 10.1 supports Blu-Ray (and there never was a '10.2')
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Of course there is that 10.2 DE version and it is supposed to be able to burn a BD Data Disc

What happens after you shut down the PC then restart it? If that doesn't free it up, your best bet would be to Call Dell back and ask them how to get it working again  laugh.gif

Never having had a Dell James, I'd go along with that

However, as it's a special Dell version, the OP will have to work with Dell support as nobody here would really know the first thing about it

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

The disk says Roxio Creator Premiere Blu-ray 10.2, so it does exist.  I've shut the computer down so many times, I'm surprised it still works.  I'm hesitant to call Dell again.  They wanted to reinstall my operating system.  I would think that would be a last resort and then I'm afraid I'd just be back where I started with 'no drive detected.'  I emailed Roxio, we'll see if they get back to me.  Thanks for the quick input, though!!

Again, that is a very specific Dell version so Dell are the ones responsible for support

You do understand that the 10.2 DE can only burn a Data Disc???

That means you would select Data Disc from the Data and Backup tab in the Home app.

If you put in a blank BD-R or RE disc and select Data Disc, what shows up in the lower left corner of the program window?

You do have Vista right, since XP doesn't work with Blu-Ray???

I didn't realize it only does data.  So, I clicked on Data to create a data disk and I still get the 'in use by Dell Test'.  Looks like I'll go back to Dell today for another several-hour session :-)  Thanks for your help

I know this is an old thread, but throught i'd post up my findings on this as it's driven me mad for a day as well!

I am running Roxio DE 10.3 and had a crash mid burn.  after which I kept getting "Drive in Use" whenever i tried to use Roxio - and any other burning app just failed to access the drive.  Tried all the usual things - removing and reinstalling Drivers, removing filters etc, all to no avail. I suspected there may be a lock file somewhere that stops the drive being used - and there is!  On windows 7/vista, navigate to C:\Users\All Users\Roxio.  Inthere (if you enable showing hidden and system files), you will find a 0kb file, called rcb-E<username> - where <username> is the name that Roxio is reporting as using the drive.  for example if it says "Drive in use by dave", the file will be called rcb-Edave.  I tested the theory by uninstalling roxio completely, deleting all mention of Roxio from registry/directories etc, then reinstalling it. the program and everything else burns discs fine.  if i then shut it down, and put the file back in the directory, i get the same "drive in use by..." error and nothing works!

Just thought I would share as I know I have been driven mad by it and i can see noone else has found this solution yet :)

This was perfect as I have the exact issue and it never occured to me that a locked file under my name was causing the issue.  Your directions were spot on, great job and thanks for posting
