Can't Mount Gi File
#1

I copied a CD audio with Creator DE 10.x everything looked fine. I put the original cd inside my pc, I open Roxio and Create the image. By default I saved it as .gi, but now the problem is that I can't burn it!
I tried to mount the gi file with, alcohol 120, PowerIso and other applications, but I had no positive results.
I copied three difference audio cds and when I mount them I have got the same error:
invalid format or whatever.
When I put a new cd/dvd into my pc it doesn't work.
Is there any way to mount the image with a program?

That is a Dell Edition, watered down so you will want a full retail edition.
Under tools is there a Disc Image Loader program?

Earp,
.GI [Global Image] is a proprietary Sonic file format. You should find you can't make an .ISO image of an audio CD because there is nothing in the ISO standards to cover an image of an audio CD. Adaptec/Roxio programs had to use the .CIF file format for that same reason.
You've made the .GI file with a Sonic program [branded Roxio], and you need to burn that .GI to disc with the Sonic software. Look in the menus of your Creator DE for an option which burns images to disc.
Here is the item in the Copy section of the full EMC 10. Your Dell version, even though it has been emasculated, should have something equivalent to this.

The thing is that every time I insert a CD inside, it says that I have to put another blank CD, while it works perfectly with other compilations...what a strange case.

Is the burner ejecting your blank CD ? What is the error message you get?

It looks like I can't burn my copy of GI and if I try with another software it works. So I was hoping to find a software which could let me see my GI files as, for example, PowerIso does.

If I click on the black round icon, the creator DE appears, at the session "Burn Disc Image to Disc", after that I click on the big circle on the right corner for buring the GI image and an information dialog appears:
"Please insert a blank or rewritable CD into the Optiarc DVDRW DL (F:). Supported media CD-r cd-rw, dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, dvd+rw. dvd-r dl, dvd+r dl, dvd ram". If you have inserted media, check that is is compatible with your drive."
So I inserted a black DVD+r and I got that error, I inserted a black cd and I got that error.
I tried to burn them later with another program, and another compilation and it worked. So the CD/DVD were ok.
any idea?

Okay you copied an audio CD to a .GI file but when you went to burn it to a blank DVD [which wouldn't work] or a blank CD [which should have worked] your system didn't accept the blank disc, is that right ?
And when you later tried to use those particular blank discs in the same burner but with a different program and content, they worked okay? It doesn't count if you used them in another burner.
If so, it should have accepted a blank CD, unless you've somehow corrupted the .GI with all the other things you were trying to do to it.
Have you tried copying another audio CD, now that you know how it should be done? If that works, then it indicates that the first .GI you made got corrupted. If it doesn't accept a blank CD for the new .GI then it looks like something is wrong with your Creator DE.

Brendon

Yes.
Same burner, it's my laptop's burner.

Ok I will try again with a different blank CD
I also gave the GI to a friend of mine and he tried to copy it with his Roxio.
It didn't work.
my friend wrote "yes, when I double click on the image file (.gi) the Burn Image to Disk part of Roxio pop up, then when I put the blank CD to the DVD RW drive & click the Burn Image button it keeps saying "A suitable drive was not detected. Please attach the drive and try again". The problem might be the drive, but I dont know how to solve it..."
Brendon
Thank you.

I was suggesting that you try copying a different audio CD, now that you know how to copy it to a .GI image and then burn the image to a blank CD.
It seems likely to me that your original .GI file has been corrupted in some way, or else it should have burned okay at your friend's place. If there are errors in the part of the .GI which indicates what type of disc image it is, that would explain the error your friend is seeing.
Trying to copy a different CD should establish if the software is capable of creating a valid .GI image, or that some part of your EMC 10 is broken.

Thank you I will try this way.
