I just installed Roxio Creator 9 DE, which came with my Dell Vista Home Premium.  I could not find any way to rip the songs from a CD I just bought.  [I had no trouble ripping them on my old machine with Creator 7.]  Furthermore, I could not find the gracenote option (to identify the songs on the CD).  Is my problem that the DE version doesn't allow ripping or doesn't  Creator 9 rip from commercial CDs?  Also, I tried to search the word 'rip' in this forum, but the response was 'none found.'  What's going on?

Your problem is the Dell OEM version of EMC 9 (not Creator 2009).  It is a stripped down version of EMC 9.

None of us have seen the Dell 9.0 DE…

What is available under Audio?

Do any of them have something – look for the word Import???
