I have Dell XPS 400 with Windows XP.  I tried to reinstall EMC 9 and at the end of installation got the message "Error 1935" (followed by some additional incomprehensible tex) and the installation rolled back.  Could anybody help?  Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much.  The problem resolved.  Indeed, it was perhaps Ad-aware program.  Although I also downloaded programs recomended in the post.  Anyway, something has worked!  Thanks again.
