Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out. I transfered a video file from my Tivo and it is around 1.5gb. I opened Videowave and imported the video which was fine but when I try to trim the video to remove commercials the edit window takes forever to load then I can't move the end bar, it hangs my computer and is really slow. Is the file that I am trying to edit too large for the software to handle or is it the nature of the Tivo format?
My computer specs are Intel Core i7@3.2ghz, Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, 6gb Tripple channel DDR3 Ram and a 9800gt video card. These specs should be more than enough to handle what I am trying to do.
Thanks.

File size is a useless measure!
How LONG is the file?
Personally, while Trim has been available since Version 6, I have yet to ever use it… I use the Split function to isolate the part I don't want and click Delete.
You are also dealing with TiVo which means the file has to converted from their Proprietary format into standard video. Takes time! I don't have TiVo so I cannot say for sure but I doubt the entire file is converted, rather only the 'window' around where you are working in VW.
That means it must reconvert every time you move that 'window'.

Thanks Jim, I will try the split feature instead of the other way and let you know how I make out. The video I was trying to edit was a 1 hour show that my wife recorded which I used to experiment with the software a little. I will try a regular avi tonight to see if it behaves any different than the tivo file.

Video is not quick!!! But 1 hour does not sound like it should be giving you trouble on that PC.
But like I said all that unpacking and repacking will take a toll. A 1 hour DV file, uncompressed, will take up about 13Gb. It will go through the editor like butter!

I just posted a similar response on another thread, but reading this I am now sure. With Creator v9, Videowave would sometimes hangup editing my Tivo files, but I could usually keep rebooting, retrying (stopping processes, whatever it took), and eventually it would edit the Tivo files "like butter".
Creator 2009 and Videowave 11 on the otherhand cannot at all process the native Tivo files, I have tried on two "blown" systems.
I have looked for a dedicated Videowave 11/Tivo thread and have not found one, going to start one unless someone has a better idea.
