I'm having a very similar problem - and am pretty much about to try the dreaded re-install.
1. I began a project where I wanted to import various videos in .VOB format from a number of non commercial DVDs - and compile these into
a single DVD.
2.So, I burned .iso images for the various DVD's to store on my HD - using Magic Disk.
3.After chosing menu style etc in MyDVD - I tried to 'ADD MOVIES' from the 1st DVD.iso image I created earlier.
ie. 2 .vob files.
However - try as I might - these .vob files refuse to show up on the file menu - so I guess it may be some compression issue as these DVDs
were not burned with Roxio.
4.So. I go to the Compile DVD's and Movies component - and using the 'DVD Video Copy' button, I select one of the .iso from the virtual
DVD drive Magic Disk.
This gives me the selection of movies on the DVD .iso copy and I choose where to import those and hit copy on the right pane.
The Roxio Compile DVD's etc component then proceeds to copy over these files into assigned folders - converting them to a readable Roxio format I presume.
5.So back into MyDVD and get all my menus set up etc. I can now add, with no problem, the recently converted .vob movie files.
Everything is looking sweet.
I test everything in preview mode - all menu buttons work and all videos and movies play with no problems - no audio problems what so ever.
6. I go to burn the new DVD from MyDVD.
A couple of times I get some kind of encoding error, but if I close down Roxio, and sometimes it requires a Re-boot of the PC - the error goes away and the burning process runs all the way though to completion.
7.
However, when I load up the new DVD - guess what - NO AUDIO!! on any of the movie files.
The video/movie files themselves play fine - but no audio whatsoever...
The only audio that can be heard is on the main menu - movie selection screen - the background audio.
I've tried altering the settings - changing the audio to dolby from mpeg2 - bit rates etc.... to no avail.
It is driving me mad!
How the heck can Roxio preview the DVD audio/video perfectly - burn everything perfectly - but the flipping movie audio!!??
I can't understand it.
I've spent a good lot of hours on it now trying different things..
My latest idea is that the .vob files have some chapter information on them that is somehow messing up the encoding.
I didn't consider the chapters within the various .vob files as I was importing them into MyDVD - so I'll probly try that next - to see if its doing anything.
However, if anybody has the solution to this - no audio after burn - issue, please tell us.
Thanks
Ausroxio.
