The magic bullet for 'no drive detected' is to download v10.1.

it asks me for a key and i dont have a key because when i got my laptop roxio easy media creator was already installed and my disk drive isnt detected so i need help.

The downloads are only for the retail version of the suite, which you don't have.

Try going to Device Manager and uninstalling your optical drive.  Reboot, and Windows will find it again.  See if that works.

If you uninstall your optical drive in Device Manager, Windows will reinstall it properly next time you restart Windows.

Okay,

You've upgraded your PX engine like Paul suggested, and you've made Windows reinstall your drive, but that "did not work".

I think you've exhausted all we can suggest for you. The only further suggestion I can make is that you go back to the company who supplied you with this "Easy Media Creator 10lj". They are responsible as Original Equipment Manufacturers [OEMs] for support of software they bundle, and you should get them to give you that support.

Good fortune.

I have had this same problem with Roxio Creator Premier SD 10.2 on my new Dell laptop. I am running a Vista 32 bit os. Dell has done everything from reformatting the harddrive, replacing the optical drive twice, replacing the mother board, installing the patch and even replacing the laptop itself. The replacement laptop still does the exact same thing. I don't know what to do now and they have given up. :-( Any suggestions?

If by "Patch" you mean you've tried the v4 pxengine from the linked KB article in the earlier posts, then try this one. it has worked for some when the newer one doesn't for some reason.

Yes, that one. Do I need to uninstall the previous patch?

Thanks!
