I have Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.1 Basic, DVD Edition. My OS is Win XP SP3.

I am running AVG antivirus 8.0 without any problems.

When I tried to instal the new AVG 8.5 Free just now I received the error message that this version of Roxio contains a bug that will cause a problem with AVG 8.5 Free, and that I should upgrade.

Is there a workaround (beside staying with AVG 8.0), as I am happy with the Roxio product I have (which I received free via a computer mag disc, IIRC.

Thanks.

V6 went out of production 5 years ago. Likewise there have been 5 versions since then.

Your decision – you upgraded yourself out of a working program.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply. I realise v6 is old

So far I have not installed AVG 8.5, so I don't have a problem.

=> I take it there is no free software upgrade on the Roxio website? I have looked but could not see anything.

I checked, FWIW, and found that I received v6 with a FREECOM external hdd... yes, back in 2004.

Cheers.

There is the update of the CRD4 module HERE, which should work with Version 6, although some users of very early V5 OEMs have not been able to use the updater.

Brandon, am much obliged for the link to the patch, which I downloaded and installed.

Just now I also installed AVG 8.5 Free without getting an error msg.

Now I just have to test my Roxio.

In meantime, many thanks.

Quick update: As a small test I opened the Roxio DiscCopier when connected to a read/write drive. Looked normal. I suppose an actual copying process would work.

Also, no protest from AVG 8.5 (so far...).

Thx again.
