Are you seeing a waveform after completing the recording or is it just a flat line?
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Check Spin Doctor's preferences. You can adjust the parameters for auto-defining tracks. Also see if you have selected "auto define immediately after recording is complete." It sounds like that is what you expect Spin doctor to do.
