I created a short demo DVD last night to test out the chapter options that I was having problems with in EMC 10.0. I know have Creator 2009.
After creating each chapter, I directed each chapter to return to the main menu after playing. I burned the DVD and played it on my TV, but instead of returning to the main menu after the chapter had played, it continued to play the entire movie. How do I get the chapters to end and return to the main menu as directed?

Thanks.

Did you actually create chapters using the create chapter function (including the make chapter menus) or did you create a number of movies/titles on the main menu that you are calling chapters?

If you created true chapters, then they will function the way you are experiencing them, as that is the standard functionality for them and it can not be changed.

If they are movies on the menu that you set the end action for, then also check your project settings and make sure the 'Movie Buttons' setting is set to 'Play Movie Only'.

I actually had one movie and I used the "Edit Chapters" function to create five different Chapters. I then used the Settings command to set the "Play From" and "After Playing" commands. Is this right, am I missing something else?

I don't know why the options would be there for "After Playing" for chapters, as a chapter only really allows for a starting point on a DVD.

When you start from a Chapter point, the movie it is a part of always plays all the way to the end form that point. This is the standard for DVD's. It's the same behavior that you would find on a commercial DVD.

So your saying that even though there is a command for returning that it doesn't work. I also found this in the help tutorial: "Select the Show Chapter Duration check box to populate the Duration field with the run time of each chapter, or click it to clear the Duration field. (Video projects only.)" But I couldn't find the "Show Chapter Duration check box". Thanks for the help so far.

When it's a chapter, yes it doesn't have any effect. Whether it was intended to work in this software, I don't know. Altho I'd be surprised if it was. It would go against the DVD Video standards. I'm guessing it was just poor design to leave it there for chapters, as it does work for movies.

As for the duration check box, I don't know what or where that is supposed to be. Haven't seen it or seen any one ask about it before.
