Maybe I've misunderstood the purpose of a multimedia CD. I thought it would allow me to burn mp3 files and jpg files on the same CD. I could then put that CD in my DVD player (Philips DVD 724) and it would automatically play the music while at the same time, showing the jpg files. I've burned a couple of CDs that contain both mp3 and jpg files but when I put it in the DVD player, nothing starts automatically. I get a screen showing me the mp3 file and the jpg pictures and I can play either one separately but not at the same time. What am I missing?

Yes that is what an Enhanced CD is all about.

It can only be created in Music Disc Creator under Properties.

The Blue Book or Enhanced Music CD specification describes the Enhanced Music CD disc format. The first session of an Enhanced Music CD disc contains audio information according to the Red Book. As a consequence, existing Compact disc players can play back this first Session as a CD Audio disc. The second session contains CD-ROM data files with content often related to the Audio Tracks in the first Session. The second session will only be used by computer systems equipped with a CD-ROM drive, or by special “Enhanced Music CD players”. Today this specification is also called CD-Extra (CD-E).

Go read the help file in Roxio Music Disc Creator, for DVD Music Disc. I think this is what you want for your settop DVD player.

What you want is a "slideshow" DVD not a multimedia CD. You use Videowave and myDVD to create that.
