I haven't yet seen a definitive answer on this -- just questions -- so maybe there IS no answer...

I am trying to convert from Tivo's proprietary format to a format that can be edited in a non-linear editor.  Nothing nefarious here -- I do video editing for actors, and I want to be able to clip out their scenes easily for their demo reels.

I want to skip the step of burning to DVD then capturing from the DVD, just want to go directly to a high-resolution data file.
