My first attempt with roxio dvd creator turned out pretty good. I have completed a project with photos, transitions and audio. When i click burn to DVD the software locks up on me. Any help would be appreciated, I have several hours into the production and I need this one and several more by Easter Sunday.

There are several possibilities but without more information from you, it would be impossible to speculate.

1) Please confirm what Roxio product you have.  Anything with a "7" number is several versions old and will not work with Vista nor may not work with XP if you have installed IE7 or IE8  or with WMP 11.  What operating system are you using?

2) What application are you using?  I can think of at least 3 and possibly 4 where you can make a slide show.

3) What application are you trying to use to burn the DVD?

4) Please give us your computer specs especially your CPU, video card/chip and what DVD burner you have.

5) Are you using a DVD disc fresh out of the box or are you formatting it.

6) Are you sure the computer is locked up and not just doing some processing behind the scenes? It does take a long time, depending on your computer to encode the slide show and then start burning.

7) Are you getting any error codes?

8) Where did you get the Roxio product?  When?

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate the help. Im older so bear with me.
Roxio Product, Roxio Easy Media Creator 7   Basic DVD
Windows XP,   as near as I can tell I have EMC7 installed.

I am using Storyboard to create my projects.

When I click burn to DVD it uses DVD Builder automatically.

My computer specs are DEll Latitude 820, duo core processor, 980mgh , 1 G ram, 80 G hard drive with 37% free space, DVD burner is Phillips DVD+RW SDVD8820.

I am using DVD fresh out of the box, i tried to format using roxio software,it said not needed.

My software locked up at 1 point for over 2 hours.

I received 1 error code that " some files were missing".

Roxio was factory installed in 2007.

I am wondering if when creating my project it is required to create titles AND menus I did not do both.

I hope this is everything you what you need to diagnose

Not quite;  You have a limited OEM version of the software that is about 5 versions behind.

As I asked before:  Are you using or have you updated Internet Explorer to version 7 and/or installed Windows Media Player 11 on your computer.  They break the program so it will not run.  There are very few exceptions.

With your laptop's configuration, I doubt that it would run any of the newer versions of Easy Media Creator.  Try rolling back IE7 to IE 6 and WMP from 11 to 10.   If you have installed XP SP3 then this is going to be very difficult.
