A few days ago I started receiving the above error which is preventing me from using two installed burners. A USB device works just fine and the two SCSI burners (a Lite On DVD burner and a LG Blue Ray device) both work with other burning programs. I have been using Creator 10 for over a year without issue. I have not found any blocked apps or anything else that might have changed the configuration. I have tried re-installing Creator 10 but the problem is still there. Anyone else experiencing this problem or have a solution?

I tried #5 (update PX Engine) and rebooted just in case but the situation hasn't changed. To clarify a bit, Creator 10 does recognize the two SCSI drives and even writes to both of them. It generates the error (stops writing) when it gets ready to close the disc. Examining the disc it's clear the disc has been written to and examining the disc in the computer it will generate the file structure and play. But the disc will not work with other devices. I considered this could be a faulty drive so I added the Blue Ray. Both drives successfully create CDs and DVDs with programs other than Creator 10 (e.g., CyberLink software). The "SCSI device not installed" error message was present before I added the CyberLink software.

One last fact that may - or may not - be pertinent: Windows notified me it was suspending a certain service (I don't remember which) while I was using Media Player 11 the day before I first noticed the error.

Thanks for trying to help me solve this problem. Your rapid response was greatly appreciated.

Is the disc closed? What plays the disc in the computer?

Vista or XP?

Cine Player and Power DVD will both play the "defective" DVDs. The CDs will play using Media Player, WinAmp and iTunes. How do I tell if the CD/DVD is closed? In the case of the CDs, I usually also build a data file into the CD but that doesn't get written when I use the two onboard writers - currently only the USB DVD writer will still create data on audio discs (previous to the current issue that was not a problem)

I have never had CyberLink Power DVD play what you call a "defective DVD"... Only a Authored Valid DVD Video Structured Disc, will play in my version of PowerDVD 7.

Look under tools, Get Disc Information, does that give you the DVD disc information?

I am using the BD edition of Power DVD. Essentially what I've said up to this point is that DVDs created by Creator 10 stop burning and generate an error before the disc is completely copied, but the DVDs play all the way thru on WM Player, Cine Player and BD PowerDVD. They do not play on standard DVD players although DVDs created by other program on the same computer and the same drives work just fine on standard players. The issue is most clearly illustrated when I burn an audio CD that has files in addition to the audio content. In that instance, Roxio generates the SCSI not installed error during the session close phase before starting the file burn phase - but only on the installed CD burners. I'm trying to make that error go away - it wasn't there until recently, as said above.

No disc information option appears available via the BD version of PowerDVD. Properties under Windows Explorer appear valid.

Did you install / updated to the very latest version of Winamp? If so, that's what caused the problem. Uninstallation will not help - only clean Windows reinstallation from scratch.

Do you have a source for that information other than your one experience? Seems pretty extreme.

No I don't. However, I have confirmed this issue twice on nForce 650 Sli chipset / Roxio Creator 2009 / Vista Home Premium SP1 x64 or x86 by installing all the programs I usually use one-by-one and checking the ability of Creator Classic to burn the CD and DVD each time the new program was installed... it took 2 weeks ;-). After Winamp 5.551 or 5.552 installation, I was not able to burn any discs anymore. The most interesting thing - even if Winamp was installed BEFORE Roxio 2009, Creator Classic couldn't burn any discs. Each time burning process stops (usually when it's time to close the disc) with "SCSI device not installed" error message. I have already submitted this information to Winamp development team and got response that most likely it's because of outdated Sonic recording engine which comes with Winamp.

Any updates on this? I'm experiencing the same problems. I see the issue posted in both the Roxio sites and the WinAmp sites, but no fixes.

Please let me know what's up.

Thanks!

I have the same problem as described above, Data is written to the SATA drive that is being reported as a SCSI device. Once all Data is written, but not index, it produces the "SCSI Device not installed" error message. This posting and one on a winamp site are the only places I can see mention of the issue but no resolution, as both locations show the problem reported over a year ago, I would have hoped there was a solution, but I can't seem to find it posted. If I take the disk to another machine, I am able to close the session and it works just fine. This seems to be a software issue so I don't believe the specs on my PC are relevant but please advise if you need and I can include them.

Are you aware of any solution to this? The only difference I'm presently facing is that it's the current version of Roxio (Roxio Creator 2010) and Windows 7.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks,
Dave

Why would I start a new thread for a problem if it's already been researched and a solution already available?

I have an ASUS Crosshair motherboard, but it does have the NVidia Force 590 SLi chipset. I had checked this a month ago after first getting Roxio 2010 and drivers are up to date, checked again today and drivers are still current 2009/08 being the current for this chipset. Have downloaded present Windows 7 - x64 drivers and re-installed and all NVIDIA SCSI drivers remained at above dates. Any other options?

Because you do NOT have the same problem

For a start you aren't even running the same program.

Also, the current nVidia drivers are dated 2009.10.06 and not .08
