I am currently using Roxio v. 6 Platinum. I am contemplating upgrading to v. 8. If I do so are there still special uninstall utilities that must be run to clean up after add/remove programs?

I assume that v. 8 has as good or better label creator as v. 6. Can someone confirm this?

Thanks, jimt

Regarding Label Creator, you may want to take a look at what has been posted in this link about that application. But bear in mind that this is a board forum where people post their problems rather than their success stories.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I am really interested in the first part of my question. Any input on the install of v. 8 and the uninstall of v.6? The last time I uninstalled a Roxio product it screwed up my hard drive so badly that I had to reformat and start all over. I don't want to do that again just to upgrade to v.8

If you have the room, I would leave version 6 on your hard drive until you determine whether or not you like version 8. You do not install version 8 in the version 6 folder.

The only thing that you can't do is install Drag to Disc, if you have its counterpart installed for version 6.

Thanks. If I decide I like v. 8 and want to uninstall v. 6 do I need to run roxizap after I uninstall it with Add/Remove Programs?

You can't run Roxio Zap. It gets rid of all versions of Roxio on your hard drive. I would never use the Zap. There are a ton of other ways to clean up your system.

I won't get into how much I detested Roxio for the serious problems that version 6 caused, but I doubt that you will have problems when you uninstall it, if you like version 8.

You are welcome, Jim, and welcome home. We were just about as far apart as we could get, in country. You were in the DMZ, and I was down in the Mekong Delta. :)

Hi Bruce, I was wondering if you would recommend upgrading to v. 8. Jim

I use version 7.5 for all of my video work like slide shows and editing of home movies. I use EMC 8 Deluxe for all other things and really like it.

Some folks have luck with the encoding in EMC 8, but I never did, so that is why I use 7.5 for video work. The final output is excellent.

I haven't had a successful video work todate with EMC8 after almost a month of fiddling and playing and a lot of posts to the BB. So all my current video work are still in EMC7.5. But I am strubborn and still attempting to do some work in EMC8.
