Is it possible to extract/capture individual pictures from the finished Roxio created DVD?
Used Videowave (7.1XX) to assemble JPEGS into a DVD (slideshow) in 2005. Due to a hard drive failure (I know, Iknow should have had things backed up - and learned from that) would like to be able to capture something like an individual JPEG of each of the pictures in the slide show or even send each picture to the printer if that is easier.
The DVD has a menu with about 10 capter selections and the pictures that I want to capture are a part of one chapter.
Thanks in advance for any information on this question.

Don't know what programs you might have for watching the DVD on your computer, but there are several programs that have an option for grabing a particular frame from a DVD video including some of the later Roxio programs. I use Cyberlink PowerDVD for extracting a particulat frame and it works fine.

I told my wife "If it can be done, someone on the Roxio board will know how!" and it was so. Thanks for the help. I opened the DVD with Windows Media Player and with just a little snooping around found the "DVD Features/Capture Image" function. Thanks to your help we have recovered some treasured Jpegs and now have them backed up on not one but two external drives!
Great to have a place like this to turn to especially now that I am retired and no longer have all my experts at hand. I worked with several hundred people all of which had tecnical backgrounds or previous experience in most any field from plumbing to rocket science. If a problem arose, it only lasted as long as lunch hour the next day when you got a chance to talk to the appropriate person.
Hats off to Redwagon!

Glad you was able to retrieve some of your very treasured pics from the DVD. Actually you need to pat yourself on the back, as you were the one that found the options to get the job done !!
BTW, back up some of those treasured photos and other special personal files and I hope you won't loose any more of your "treasures"

Yeah, well it was your initial information that lead me to try playing the DVD and looking for the capture feature. Before asking for help I had tried a couple of players but they either didn't have the capture feature or I didn't have the confidence that it might be there somewhere so I figured that was not the way to go. So when you indicated some players had that capibility, I tried more players until I discovered Windows Media Player did have the capture image capibility.
I do have those pictures in a file and copied to both of my external drives. a data disc, and the internal drive. I have seen the light! After many, many years without a failure , just 1 hard drive crash made me a believer.
