What program suite are you trying to use, and which program in the suite?

Diego, I'm not at all sure what program suite you do have, but I'll bet my boots it is not Easy CD and DVD Burning, in the red box shown, with a 'Vista Compatible' sticker, is it !!

So if we're going to get you some help we need to know if possible just what it is.

You said it came with the external drive. Does the drive front, or any of the discs which came with it, have the brand QFLIX on it?  Perhaps something like this

qflix.jpg

Can you tell us anything more about the drive or the software? Especially when you're running the "easy cd" program, can you go up to its Help button, and look at "About this software" and tell us what name and version number it tells you??

Thanks very much,
Brendon

Sounds more and more like a store bundle.

The Venue software will only burn Qflix and does not include any other burning ability.

I am guessing it all came bundled with the drive and they threw in the Red Box too to make the drive more palatable…

I am curious where you got it from? – saw some in a Micro Center store but didn't have time to examine the contents.

But answer all of Brendon's qustions first so we can get you up and running!

Thanks for the info it clears up a lot of questions and presents many more

You have an OEM version based on EMC10 that none of us have ever seen!

You will probably need to place the USB plug for the burner into a back port on your PC. Other ports like those on the keyboard, monitor or front of the PC just don't always measure up to the data flow needed to burn.

You should place a blank disc in the drive and run the Tools to see what it says about the drive.

Then I would try using Creator Classic (assuming it is in the OEM package) and try it in Test Only.

Still does the same thing starts working fine but seconds later it just stops and says burning process failed.I have one of those notebooks Acer Aspire one running with Windows XP I dont know if thats the case tho...thing is i had a lg external drive and was working fine but I changed it for this one since this one is better.I still dont know why that rcsl.dll file always says during instalation that it cant be found....should i unistall and reinstall everything?(already did it but now that i switched to another usb port maybe it will not do that?) I switched the usb cable to another usb port also like you said but same thing happens.I really hope that its not the notebook its funny tho cause it starts burning but then seconds during the burning process it just stops and says it failed. Thanks for helping me out If there no solution for this i might as well just turn it back in I dont want to changed it heh.

Okay Diego, it looks as if the first thing needed is to get you a proper install of the suite. That continual complaint about rcsl.dll during installation would suggest things haven't gone well, even if you've installed a couple of times.

Can you find rcsl.dll anywhere on your system? You'll need to tell Windows to show you hidden and system files, but it should be in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared if your program suite is anything like the Easy Media Creator series.

If it's there, it might be a case of the DLL just failing to register. You might be able to register it yourself.
-go to the start button, and run cmd.exe
-in the command window which opens type or paste the command regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared\rcsl.dll and then press Enter.
With luck you'll receive a message saying the DLL registered okay. Close the command window and try your creator program.

Now if you can't find the DLL, can't register it, or that doesn't help, you should try doing a clean install of the suite. The instructions for that are HERE.   Those instructions are [among others] for EMC 10 in Windows XP. The idea is to clean out the fragments as much as possible so you can have a clean run at the install, and EMC 10 seems closest to the "Easy CD and DVD Burning" part of your software suite.

One thought which did just pop up. I trust you're using an ordinary disc for your burning attempts. Any which have Qflix labels on them are for burning specially downloaded movies with the Venue part of the suite.

Regards,
Brendon
