I've had Roxio 10 for months, and every time I try to load MyDVD or DVD express, or do much with any of the editing applications, I get a prompt saying the "following codec(s) must be activated ... MPEG-2." When I click okay to activate, it always crashes. Never get any further explanation or direction. Advice? blink.gif

Do you have Easy Media Creator 9 (EMC 9) or do you have Easy Media Creator 10 (EMC 10)? The Activation was a problem with EMC 9.

You will need to do a clean install. Follow the instructions, here:

If you have Vista, scroll down in that link, and click on the Vista link.

I have Easy Media Creator 10 Suite, Version: 1.0.044. I did have an old version months ago (EMC8 I believe) and I tried a clean install when I first bought the new software (really annoying requirement of Roxio, to say the least). I do have Vista. I'll try it again. Thanks

This didn't do a #$^@ thing for me. It just took forever, and set me back on all my video projects. It didn't activate any #$^@ "Codecs" -- what is Roxio's problem! angry.gif

Other people have got things going nicely and quickly with the advice you've been given. It would seem like YOUR problem rather than Roxio's.

Calm down, stop swearing, and do the clean install procedure for Vista that Bruce suggested. Print it out and follow it minutely, because if you've had EMC 8 anywhere your Vista you will need to clean it all out.
