I have recently updated to SP4 via the check for software update program. After installation and the obligatory reboot, Cineplayer no longer plays DVDs. Everything was working fine with SP3 but now they won't play. DVDs do play through Windows Media Player. Something must have changed during the patching process. I have also disabled Hardware Acceleration but that made no difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System specs: Windows Vista Ultimate, NVidia 8800 Ultra, 4GB Ram

Regards,
Tom

Well that’s a Pain! It must have been right on the edge…

About the only choice is to do a Clean Install and then apply SP4.

SP4 is to fix some CinePlayer issues not create them  laugh.gif

Thanks for the reply DG.

I was thinking of doing this but thought I should ask first just in case there was an easy solution.

Well I did uninstall the whole suite and then reinstalled it after a reboot and then just applied the SP4 patch but the same result occurred. It looks like I'm forced to watch DVDs through Windows Media Player until this issue is solved.

Are you running 64 bit?

Do you have any other Roxio/Sonic software on your system?

Perhaps a call to Roxio support is in order.

angry.gif  Confirm this issue after installing SP4 with an additional glitch:  DVD image play via emulated DVD drives causes BSOD.
Multiple attempts using different movies/ISOs -- same result.  After several tries, system would not boot normally.
Following safe-mode reboot and system restore, Cineplayer using virtual DVD drives works OK under Creator 2009 SP3.
Looks like SP4 not only breaks Cineplayer, but crashes the system using emulated optical drives.

You are both running 8 series nvidia graphics cards.  did you both update them to the recent release that came out this month?  give that a try

you can explore the install dvd and run a repair on cineplayer.. maybe try that?

Also, you said it wont play.. what error or problem?

you said you uninstalled and reinstalled... did you do a clean install?  or just add/remove, and then install over the same corrupt files?  try to uninstall it, delete the leftover files.. then try again.

dry.gif Same to me. After a clean Re-Installation the problem still persist. I think the problem is in the SP4 with the new Nvidia drivers. Could someone check for a solution? Thanks!

I am running the latest NVIDIA drivers and SP4. I don't have a problem under VISTA SP2 or W7 RC1. But then I am not running emulated drives.

I do AGAIN a CLEAN install of EMC11. BEFORE the Service Pack Cine Player worked GREAT. After the SP4 installation Cine Player let me listen to the audio only. NO VIDEO at all.

Could someone find a solution? Thanks!

dry.gif Today I've installed a completely new Roxio 2009 Suite in a completely NEW computer with  Windows XP SP3.

The Video card is an Intel Video Card On-Board.

I could watch DVD with Cineplayer BEFORE the SP4 installation. After that I could listen to audio only. No way to watch the video.

Please. Would someone try to solve this problem?

Thanks!  rolleyes.gif

If your C2009 Suite works fine before installing the SP4 update, don't install it!

Thanks for the advice.  smile.gif Same as: "Sooner or later you have to die. Why born?".

Usually a Service Pack is done to IMPROVE performances and SP4 solves many other problems, but adds this one. So I ask Roxio for a solution. Thanks God there are many other software to play video.  laugh.gif

OK, I have two not so new PC’s with XP and 2009 SP4 and both can play CinePlayer without a hitch…

If we can’t duplicate the problem, then it isn’t in SP4…

I don't often use Cineplayer, but just confirm that with SP4 it's broken. DVDs that play fine in WMP either don't play at all in Cineplayer or sound only (plus odd effect: the sound was too loud, so I adjusted the slider, but as soon as I ley go it just slid right back up!). Also tried some mpg, wmv and avi files: foe them no sound!
A real mess.
I'll not bother to fix, though as I prefer WMP 11 or PowerDVD8.

I note that both Jim and malatekid are running XP SP2. I have XP SP3. Is this significant??
