dry.gif First off I would like to say hi to all. I am new here and this is my first post. So I hope I am in the right place. I am a newbie using roxio.I am trying to make a dvd with old family pics and audio. I have no trouble what so ever while i am putting everything together. I play back the preview and it looks Greeeeeat. But when I burn the movie to the disc, during the encoding process,it skips over some of my pics and the screen goes black....it stays like that for about 15 to 20 seconds and then comes back on..... I have tried for a few weeks to get this put together for my family. Does anyone have any idea what i may be doing wrong????? Thanks for reading and I appreciate any advice......

Hello jjeana,

Easy Cd And Dvd Burning [this forum] doesn't have MyDVD. It only has MyDVD Express. Are you sure you have Easy Cd And Dvd Burning ?

What steps are you taking, and what program are you running to make your disc? How do you get there from the Home menu?

Hey, no problems. You are in the right forum, too. smile.gif

Can you describe what you're doing, step-by-step please, so I can try and duplicate it?

What type of source files are you using, and what do you do with them?
You say the screen goes black for a period and then comes back on. What happens to the program - is it still running when the screen comes back on or has it disappeared? What happens to the disc you're trying to burn?

Sorry it took me so long to answer it got late here and i had to sleep. When i open my easy cd and dvd i click on mydvd express..I then add my slideshow and add my pics and audio....i preview it and it looks great...i then finish... i add more slideshows in chapters and do the same for each, I then go to create and burn to disc....it goes through the process of encoding the movies, but during the encoding it will skip over some of my pics and just shows a black screen...it does this several times during the burning process and my completed dvd plays with the black screens all through the slideshow.... I have tried everything... I thought maybe i was using a different file type in those pics,,but i checked and all the pics are the same file type....but the movie plays perfect in the preview....any ideas???? I am at a loss.....Thanks for your help...Jeana The black screen is on my disc that i am burning.....the encoding skips over pics and jusy shows a black screen on my finished dvd during that time and then more pics just like i had wanted it, but during the black out some of my pics are left out of the slideshow....then it resumes where it left off and continues...

That's understood. No problems, I'm in a different timezone too. smile.gif

Now, do I understand it right, you're making a slideshow in MyDVD Express and while everything looks good at preview time, some photos get skipped at encoding time?

What filetype are the photos you're using? [file extension name ?]
Are the same photos skipped each time, or are some photos causing the system to barf and whatever photos are next to be encoded get missed while the system is recovering?

What I'm getting at, are there any particular photos which seem to be rejected by the encoder or causing the problem, and if I sent you an email address by private message could you email me some of these photos so I can try and duplicate the problem?

Please excuse me if I can't put my finger immediately on your problem but while I'm one of the two gurus with Easy CD and DVD burning, I'm not into slideshows so I have to learn things about this part of the suite too.

I guess I’m the other laugh.gif

It is a familiar problem but seems to defy a single solution.

I don’t have the Red Box version installed at the moment so I am guessing to an extent… From the Home app, click on Tools. If Options are available see if there is one for Render. If there is, set it to Software.

The other things we usually do are clear proxy files and do a Clean Install. You don’t have an option to clear the proxy files and I would wait to see if Brendon has another suggestion before doing the Clean Install.

Hi Jeana,

I've sent you the message. Click on the "New Messages" text near the top of the page to receive it.

Like Jim, I'm suspecting that something has broken inside your Easy CD and DVD Burning, and that you'd be best advised to reinstall it to get it back to 'factory condition'. The 'Clean Install' instructions you should use are the same as for version 9 in XP, and they're HERE.. I'd suggest you print them out and do a step-by step clean reinstall, while I'm beating up your jpegs.
