Under Tools in Creator Classic 9.0 the Disk and Device Utility shows no devices connected to the system, not even the C: hard drive that the OS is on. I have both a CD burner/DVD Rom and a DVD RW drive installed that show up in Windows Explorer. How can I get Roxio Creator Classic 9.0 to recognize these optical drives? As long as they are not recognized, Creator Classic can't complete the task of burning files to a CD.

Have you tried the PxEngine update?

If the above update doesn't work then try this one:

In addition to what Big_Dave said, the Disc and Device Utility will only show optical drives. It will not show your hard drives.

Big_Dave,
Thanks a million. I tried the top update first and, after a reboot, found that it didn't work. Then I tried the bottom update, which was a zip file. I unzipped and ran the executable. After a reboot, both optical drives showed up in the Disk and Device Utility under Tools in the Creator Classic. I find it interesting that version 3_00 of the PxEngine would work, but the newer version 4_10 would not. It would seem that all optical drives identified by 3_00 would continue to be identified by 4_10. Anyway thanks for including both download links in your post.

I think the difference is the installer for the PX Engine. The earlier one is more thorough and fixes a few things, whereas the later one simply replaces a few files with newer versions and doesn't fix anything.
