Hi, gurus and others. I'm looking for website and app suggestions. I'm producing a multi-media slideshow that will go beyond just family. Therefore enhancements I use in it that are outside the purvey of PhotoSuite, VideoWave, or anything else that comes with EMC10, will have to be legal to use, e.g., legally obtained or purchased (for instance, not something snitched off of YouTube). I'm pressed for time and don't have days to spend surfing the web in search of same. Many of you have been doing EMC productions for years and possibly have some suggestions for me. Currently here's what I'd like if such things exist:

1) Additional fonts for VideoWave, or fonts that can be used in VW with text effects, e.g., slide in from lower left, zoom and fade in, etc. Not text added to a photo, I have plenty of options for that.

2) Video backgrounds that can be downloaded and used in a commercial production with photos as overlays. I don't mind paying for them if the pricing isn't outrageous.

3) Downloadable overlays that can be used in a commercial production. Willing to pay a little here, too.

4) Any special effects I didn't mention above.

I hope I'm not being too presumptuous, and many thanks beforehand for anything you can suggest. biggrin.gif

You should be able to use whatever fonts are on your system in VideoWave, so you can search for whatever fonts you want, install them and then use them in VW. You know that you can access the settings panel and make your text slide in from left and zoom and fade it, yes? (Maybe I misunderstand your question)

MotionLoops.com is one company that has lots of different backgrounds.

Not sure what kind of overlays you're searching for, same for special effects, depends on your project.

It is presumptuous, btw, to imply that anyone here would suggest you use video "snitched off of youtube".

Chuckle, I didn't mean to imply any such thing, I was trying for an example of the sort of video background that wouldn't[i] be acceptable for commerical usage. tongue.gif

I'm confused about the fonts, though. To use the various text effects in VW am I not limited to clicking on Text in VW and using what is there. If I, say, download some extreme texts from the web I can't "install" them into VW can I?

As for overlays I thought there might be a site that specialized in overlay designs.

You should be able to download and install fonts from font sites (I don't know what "extreme texts" are though), install in your OS (not "into VideoWave") and add them to VW productions. I've had one font not work correctly in VW, but others seem to do OK. I don't know if you are on XP or Vista; installing fonts may be different in Vista.

Referring to the screen shots here, once you have clicked on Text and added one of the preset text effects, select your text if it isn't already, and then click on the Show Settings link in the Task panel. This will enable the text settings panel where you should find various ways of manipulating your text, including changing the font (click the drop-down arrow to reveal the other fonts on your system) and adding preset motion effects (click on the tab with the little red ball on it).

You can make anything you want into an overlay, it's a broad term.

Thanks. I knew the basics of fonts and text effects, etc., but didn't think I could install them on my system. Went to a font download site and lo and behold there were easy instructions on how to download and install them on the OS. Wonderful. Thanks, Karri. rolleyes.gif
