Hi,

I am using easy media creator 9.  I have several avi files that I am trying to burn into ONE movie.  The create DVD function asks me if I want to burn as separate files or as one.  I click one, but the end product is still coming out as separate files.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!

It has been a long time since I used EMC 9 but I believe if you select all the avi files at one time in the proper order, they will be added as one movie.  Use the Windows command to select the files.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

PC  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Velocity Micro ProMagix ©HD 60; evga x58 motherboard, Intel i7 @2.93, 12G RAM, EVGA Nvidia 560TI superclocked video card, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, Buffalo external blu-ray burner; Creator 2012. PhotoShow 6, VHS to DVD 3Plus.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Are you trying to add them one at a time? If so that's why it's not working. You have to select all 12 to be added at them same time. Then MyDVD will ask you if you want to add them as a single title/movie or as separate titles. choose the single title option.

I guess that I should have bolded and underlined the "select all the avi files at one time in the proper order" part.

Then you did it wrong, or your version of EMC 9 can't do what you want.  Did you used the Ctrl key, when you were selecting all of the video clips?

What version of EMC 9 do you have?  Is it a retail version, or did it come with your computer or a DVD burner?

I did use the control key when selecting the files- still no luck.  This is a retail version; Roxio Creator 9 XE Version 9.0.602....having said that I did actually buy it off ebay sooooooo who knows?  I just find it strange that the help menu and all the options are there and I am getting an end product, just not the product I want.

Thanks for all your suggestions-

You did not get the retail version - the XE identifies it as a OEM version which has features crippled or missing. When you buy software off e-bay .....?????

The version that you bought off of e-Bay, came free with Mad Dog DVD burners.  You were ripped off.  It is a stripped down version of the software, as Walt said.

okay... I hate to re-visit this topic...BUT- I coughed up the money and purchased Creator 9.  Stated the process all over again.  It WORKS! sort of.......I have 9 separate files totaling about 50 minutes....creator imports about 40 minutes worht of the files as one movie and then creates one more movie of about 10 minutes.  I am not burning this to a disc (saving to my hard drive) so disc space I think should not be an issue.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks!

Creator 9 ?  That's an OEM.  Did you mean to post Creator 2009?

I guess I don't understand your problem.  Easiest fix.  Open Video Wave (Edit Video -Advanced) add the videos in order.  Save the project or, in your case, export the project as the type of format you want.   If you export as mpg2, then you can add that in MyDVD to burn to a disc.  It will be prerendered so putting it on a dsc will be fast.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

The files are all separate now and I had wanted to combine them so that they play as one movie.  I had been using the MyDVD express function, adding the files and selecting the "import files as one movie" prompt- but I will try your suggestion-

Thanks

What program do you really have and where did you buy it? The full name please ... Creator 9 tells us nothing.
Why are you using myDVD Express if you just want to create a video file on your hard drive?
If you have the full retail version (which is still not clear since you didn't answer the question) then you simply use Videowave, add your 9 video files in the correct sequence and Output to the desired format

Sorry- I have the full retail version of Roxio Creator 2009, purchased from the Roxio site.  I was using the DVD express becasue when I had this problem previously, that was what was recommended.  As I said, DVD express did solve the problem halfway- I have the separate videos on an external drive, and I want to combine them into one movie.  So I will try your suggestion and see if it works-

Thanks!

You can also use the full MyDVD, instead of sending your VideoWave production to the MyDVD Express.

I can't see anyone recommending myDVD Express when you want to create a video file on your hard drive - myDVD Express is for burning a DVD. There is a convoluted way to get to output to a video but that goes back to Videowave anyway .. so why not start there.
