I'm having a problem reading certain types of disks on my LG BD300 Blu-ray Player that I burned on my PC. I'm trying to burn on a Memorex DVD+R DL disk. When I burn standard DVD files on these disks they work in the BD300. When I burn AVCHD files on these disks they don't work...the BD300 says "check disk" and ejects the disk. If I burn the same AVCHD files on a regular DVD-R disk (single layer) there is no problem reading them.

So the problem seems to be the combination of DVD+R DL and AVCHD files. Any ideas as to what can I do to fix this?

thx.

Most of us consider a Dumpster to be a Memorex Kiosk  laugh.gif

Clear something up please…

How are you ’burning AVCHD files’ onto these DL discs? What program – what steps?

It usually works faster if you supply details, the more the better!

Good points

Yes I have the latest firmware.

Its all done w/i Roxio. I create the BD files into a directory using MyDVD. I then use DiskCopy to burn the files to the DVD. I did this with all the tests I ran.

Disc Copy? Did you mean Video Copy & Convert?

I click on Create-Burn Data Disk Advanced which brings up Creator Classic.

Interesting that the regular disc would play back burned as a data disc.  Do you have Creator 2009 with the Bluray plugin or Creator 2009 Ultimate (which includes the plugin)?  With the plugin, MyDVD can burn AVCHD to standard DVD in the Bluray format (UDF 2.5).

I have Creator 2009 with the plugin. The problem here is burning to dual layer DVDs...the regular DVDs play just fine.

Yes, I understand, but I'm surprised the AVCHD files burned as 'data' with Creator Classic would even play back on the Bluray player because the files system is totally different from a Bluray video disc.  Creator Classic doesn't support Bluray video UDF 2.5 file system.

I'm suggesting that you use MyDVD and create a AVCHD on standard DVD project - with or with menu - and burn directly to DL media using MyDVD.

As far as I can tell, MyDVD is the only application in the suite that supports this.

Try outputting to a image file then use,  the small free program, ImgBurn Current version: 2.4.4.0 CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application, # 9 in my signature to burn the image to disc. When you load the image and disc into ImgBurn, burn the disc at the 'Supported Write Speeds: 2.4x, 4x' ImgBurn reports for the Memorex DL Disc!

So it looks like my Blu-ray Player only supports certain combinations of files and types of DVDs. I did get the 1080 AVCHD videos to work on dual layer DVDs using the method I tried above....first ng them to hard drive and then coping the files to the DVD.

It would not accept 1080 blu-ray AVCHD files on these DVDs even though the player documentation says it will. I have read on the Web that this may be on purpose to reduce Blu-ray pirating....but who knows.

Anyway, thanks for the help on this....I hope we can soon o the bottom of my upconverting problem.....discussed in another thread.
