Got a new computer with Windows XP Professional with SP3. Have Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11.

Installed Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning program that came in a red box. It is version 6.2.0.130. Doesn't say Platinum or Classic. I installed the program and it worked fine for awhile. Then it wouldn't recognize a disc in the drive when I tried to use Creator Classic to burn CDs. The drive does appear in Explorer.

I uninstalled with Add/Remove programs and reinstalled. A screen appeared just before my desktop appeared. It appears to be like a Windows Explorer screen. The screen says, "C\Program Files\Common\helper.sig". That's all it says. I must manually close the screen for the bootup to continue.

Not all the features of Easy CD & DVD Burning will work. Disc Copier gives the message that it doesn't recognize any supported recorders. Audio Central works. DVD Builder first said, "Unable to recognize menu themes. Please reinstall DVD Builder"; however, the program loaded. It is version 1.2.0.131. PhotoSuite appears to work. Creator Classic (the one I previously used the most with problem) hangs and never loads. I must use Ctrl>Alt>Del to stop it.

I uninstalled but the screen that said C\Program Files\Common\helper.sig kept appearing on bootup. I used System Restore to go back to an earlier date. After it restored and brought up my desktop, a message from Roxio appeared calling for my installation disc. The message wouldn't go away so I put in the disc and let it reinstall Roxio. However the program still doesn't work.

What's up? Is there any way to use this program without all these problems. I need clear step-by-step instructions about what to do. I don't want to crash my whole system.

I installed Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 from the CD. Now a windows explorer window with C:\Program Files\Common\help.sig appears just before my desktop loads. I can see the desktop in the background if I make the window smaller. Why does this pop up every time I start my computer? How do I stop it from popping up? dry.gif

Nothing to do with Roxio – Google it.

There are two Versions of Easy CD & DVD Burning - V.6 and V.9.

The V.6 one is a re-issue of the orignal Version 6, which is around 5 years old - before SP3, IE7, and WinPlayer 11 - it is possible any or all of those 3 may be the problem.

If you want to work with Video, I would NOT suggest getting the "Vista Compatible" Version 9, which has been designed to NOT work with the most popular forms of video files. If your computer doesn't vastly exceed the minimum requirements for the newest Creator 2009 (which is the equivalent of V.11), you might be able to pick up EMC 9 fairly inexpensively at amazon.com or similar.

I had the same problem.
After a lot of trying, I uninstalled Drag-to-Disc and AudioCentral. That solved the issue. Since I don't use either one of these items I'm happy again.

Windows XP SP3, IE8, WMP11 and a lot more. I use Winamp as standard player.
