Emc 10 Plug & Play Crash

When opening Plug & Burn to record from a camcorder to a DVD, my laptop freezes and then crashes to a restart.

any advice?

Don't plug and burn, especially with a laptop. One little hiccup, and you have a coaster.

Capture the video, to your hard drive, then burn it to a DVD.

Thanks for the warning. It seems like roxio should have a fix for that problem.

So is there a way to capture the audio and video from my camcorder or a VCR with EMC10?

I am trying to preserve my old family videos.

Yeah, use the Capture program. If the video camera uses miniDV tapes, capture via firewire.

For capturing, from the VCR, you will need a capture card, or a device like the Roxio USB Capture Device.

BTW, no fix is needed for the plug and burn feature. It is mainly the computer, and luck, to get it done. I did the plug and burn, once, just to see if it would work for my computer, and it did. I was lucky that nothing went wrong, along the way. I probably won't plug and burn again.
